haha yeah my fascination with starbucks didn't last too long... I was just temporarily hooked on the milky goodness. I agree about machine... eggs benedict and latte bowl second favourite beakie behind Zum's french toast..

is Zum still in that tiny place in Elizabeth St or did they find somewhere bigger.
Foodstore in South Hobart is another gem, the cornbread in the big breakfast is amazing. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Yeh they reopened next door to where they used to be in salamanca... right next to quarry. I was so happy cause the one in north hobart sucks, it doesn't do french toast!
Never tried Foodstore... think I had a milkshake or something there once, but will have to check it out sometime then.

was it the chocolate milkshake that has chocolate cake it in? That's pretty damn good too!

what? chocolate milkshake with chocolate cake in it?? Unfortunately I don't think it was... Patty you must be a connoisseur of Hobart cafes... sounds like you know where all the good stuff is.

It's no secret I like food!
If memory serves there's a good one in Criterion St, and one in Landsdown Crescent as well - but only been to those ones once and they may not be there any more.... The list of places to visit when I'm home for Chrissy continues to grow.

Haha I think you just named half the places that the Mercury did the other day in their good breakfast places article!
Apr 17, 2008 8:10 AM #
Anvil:
Obviously the Mercury reads Pookies log, I should charge them.
Is Jackmann & McRoss in there too? Don't know how I forgot them. Though not just for breakfast!

Yeh that criterion street place is good actually... should go there again sometime soon. Think they have awesome big sandwiches don't they? Never heard of Jackmann and McRoss tho?

I actually just sold your breakfast hotspot tips to the Mercury... instead of trying to find some decent news they prefer to produce a paper that can compete with Women's Weekly and New Idea for the amount bias misinformed crap they can fit in each day.

What! OK, get your arse up to Hamden Rd in Battery Point stat for some Jackman goodness - its about a block up from D'Angelos. There's also a branch in New Town, but not as much choice.

Not sure if the Mercury is as bad, but once when I was doing an interview with the Examiner in Launceston the journo let slip that their instructions were to write stories for an audience with a reading age of 8. I couldn't help saying that I'd noticed.

They say the same thing about the free newspapers they give out at the tube stations over hear. Not sure what 8 year old gives a crap about what the which member is leaving Girls Aloud or what Amy Winehouse did last night....

the only good Mercury is a burnt Mercury

oohh...harsh...people still like it when their photo is in the paper though..

re: Coffee places in Hobart. I lived ther for 8 years and have never heard of any of those places. Thought cofee houses were for rich pricks who had too much money too waste. Why weren't they out climbing on Mt Wellingtton or surfing at Clifton? bloody latte sipping wankers
Apr 18, 2008 6:19 AM #
Anvil:
nowadays wankers of all socio-economic backgrounds are able to enjoy a latte

haha thats right Patty, like me...

Sounds about right Blair. Only I think the Mercury might go one further and not bother with the interview and just hold creative writing seminars to produce their articles.

It is good getting your photo in the paper tho... as long they don't make you do one of those deplorable fake orienteering poses where you have to hold a map up to your face and point randomly into the bush. Unfortunately that happened to me once... I felt abused.
