Discussion: Cactusssssss

This reminds me old joke which modified can go like this

Two balls were adventure racing/orienteering in desert. One of the balls says to another: “According to the map we should see cactusssssssssssssssss...”. Second ball replies “I don’t see any cactusssssssssssssssss...”

hmm took a while for me to get the punch line.

I don't get the joke, can someone explain it to me?
