LOL! Not quite, but very close to Saturday's race. I did have the recovery advantage of the "shit stop" at minute 5 (out of 20) today. I didn't want to stop, but nobody wants to run with poopy pants/shitty shorts/crappy crevice (choose your favorite alliterative description.) It would be like that girl who wears too much perfume to the gym except substitute poop for perfume.
I'm really glad this is in your log.
Really glad because you so enjoyed the comment or glad that it's not on yours?
It seems to be...and to make sure you get this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detail...Jens, we can move to your log, really we can.
(Now I can't say log without laughing!!!!)
Log. Heh heh. I saw that video on Facebook the other day. Cute! I thought talking about poop was an old time AR tradition. Is there disagreement?
On another note, I just got notification that I won my age group at the race Saturday and my award is free entry into any of their future races in the series - 5k, 10k, or half marathon. That is a great award!
I'm glad everything came out well in the end.
Also, pretty cool about the race.
Mr W - my win follows your method of entering a shorter race when a longer distance is offered (in this case, a half and a 10k). It works! :)
Oh dear goodness me, a pooping conversation and I am just getting the tail end of it?
sandbaggingCoincidentally, there's currently a
nine page thread on the mmba site about that. It's amazing what gets those folks wound up. As for me...nobody tells Usain to run the 1500.
I thought at first that you were accusing Double M of sandbagging on the pooping conversation and was confused about the Usain comment. Then, I looked at the thread.
It doesn't count for running since we don't have classes. That's what I say. If I specifically like a certain distance, then that's what I'll run. On the other hand, I ran into an acquaintance during my warm-up and we both felt the need to explain/justify to the other why we were running "just" the 5K. It seems that runners feel like they are supposed to run the longest distance offered or there's something wrong. (sandbagging? slacking?)
No one ever has to justify a 5k to me. It's over 90% aerobic and you get to go fast.
The whole class thing in bikes seems odd. I can see it for crit stuff since pack handling makes a big difference, but for most other stuff, just let everyone race. Give a nice run up on the road before the singletrack to sort out the order a bit. Running seems to do alright without "expert" and "sport".
Although it does seem like a good AR person should have to explain why they are only doing a six instead of a twelve hour race, but that's because we should all be prepping for a 24, the most perfect length.
MrW - Glad you like the 24s so much. Will you be travelling to race in other states next year? There are plenty within an 8 hour drive distance that will keep you busy all year.
Not sure about other states. I have unfinished business at the Wilderness Traverse, so I will return to Canada. A championship race sounds good, but two week days off during the school year is a logistic nightmare, so not sure about USARA, especially as it also requires a qualifier, the easiest of which would be right up against WT. Checkpoint Tracker had interesting elements but it sounds like some things that are not my bag.
