Hiking 3:40:00 [3] 8.0 mi (27:30 / mi) +655m 21:55 / mi

Today we hiked to Observation Point which was probably one of the scariest things I have ever done. Not kidding at all. For most people it would probably be awesome but lemme tell you there were a lot of steep drop offs and cliffs right next to the trail....A LOT. And as we all know I don't really like cliffs. It was a challenge to say the least but I made it! (Not without nearly turning around) I can safely say this hike makes up for me not going on Angels Landing, it also solidified my reasons for not going on it. We got to hike up and up 2148 ft of climb over 4 miles, so it was pretty steep (then we had to go down and down the same horrifying trail). The first part was just full of switchbacks until it flattened out a bit and went through a slot canyon which was pretty cool. Then there were more switchbacks, some of which were cut into the side of the canyon with solid 600 foot drops to one side. Then it flattened out at the top plateau of the canyon and we got a stellar view of the whole canyon. I think I'm done with the steep stuff for a little bit, my feet and legs are super tired but luckly we have a rest day tomorrow. :)
Accomplishment Grade: A++

Note

Got really, really windy at like 1 in the morning until this morning as I remember it did last time. It's kinda weird.

Hiking 3:00:00 [3] 6.0 mi (30:00 / mi) +470m 24:08 / mi

Angels Landing. I didn't make it all the way, I'm kinda disappointed in myself but there was no way I was gonna do that. Me and the cliff features don't get along well, especially when they're over a thousand feet tall. Anyways I went down some of the West Rim trail with Anna and my mom instead which was pretty awesome. Maybe one day I'll get the guts to go all the way.

Hiking 1:00:00 [3]

Drove to Pink Coral Sand Dunes state park and hiked on the sand dunes.

Hiking 5:00:00 [3]

First day in Zion. Went to the emerald pools which were very touristy but pretty cool, last time we didn't go to them so it was something different. Then we went to my favorite hike the Narrows. Good stuff. We went a lot further than last time and I stayed pretty much dry (except for my feet obviously) for a good hour and a half....then we got really wet, like higher than my belly button wet but it was totally worth it. Tomorrow the dreaded Angels Landing. I dunno if I'm gonna make it all the way this time or if I'll just stop at Scout lookout. I want to get over my fear and do it though.

Note

Yay we made it! Landed in Phoenix last night so today is a long day of traveling up to Zion. On another random note my jet lag is screwing me up. After we got home from Bulgaria I had a tendency to wake up at around 3:30 and then again at 6 and now I like to wake up at 5:30. I guess I'll have lots of time explore in the morning :)

Note

Another rest day and doing packing for our trip tomorrow to the South West, I finally decided not to pack the day of. :) Also feeling kinda under the weather, nose is clogged and runny and my throat isn't feeling too hot. Hopefully it goes away soon.
