Road Bike 2:05:00 [3] 30.3 mi (14.5 mph) +587ft
ahr:137 max:160

Rode the trail along the ocean up to Carpinteria. Kind of a "trial commute" though I don't know if I'd actually do it. Maybe if there were road closures or something (and the trail was open?) It was all into the wind on the way out since the coast is facing northwest in this area. Beautiful ride along the ocean. I often forgot that 101 was right there. Oh, there was a weird section where you actually have to ride on the side of the freeway. Freaked me out a bit, but that's the bike route.

Run (Botanical Gardens) 34:29 [3] 2.6 mi (13:16 / mi) +420ft 11:30 / mi

Ran the botanical gardens loop. Second day of running in a row, so I wasn't feeling quite as energetic as yesterday. Forgot HRM strap.
hill climb time: 8:45.1

Run (Botanical gardens) 37:45 [3] 2.4 mi (15:44 / mi) +568ft 12:51 / mi
ahr:150 max:175

After work run up the Ventura Botanical Garden trail. I was feeling great for the first part of the run and managed to run the whole trail from the parking lot to the road with no walking! Woo hoo! Felt like my legs could move faster after practicing it on the track Monday. I made a dramatic reduction in my climb time:
3-16-16 - 7:53
3-6-16 - 9:02
2-22-16 - 9:09
It's like being a new runner again - the PRs come frequently and dramatically. Fun!

Unfortunately, after getting to the peak, I suddenly had the need for a pit stop, but there was no place to go, so I had a long walk back. When I got back down to the road, I was feeling better, so I focused on faster cadence run back home.

Run (Track) 39:30 [3] 3.2 mi (12:21 / mi) +26ft 12:15 / mi
ahr:147 max:181

6x 400m at the track. Did a warm-up running on the trail around the entire facility until I found the track entrance. I also figured out how to get on the trail that climbs 5 miles up the mountain. That's for another day, though. Lap times for each 400m interval were as follows:
1 - 1:56.7
2 - 1:58.2
3 - 1:50.1 (note: 2 small children running behind me. could not be passed by small children)
4 - 1:53.1
5 - 1:59.7
6 - 1:58.2
Walked 200m in between laps. I tried to run a cool down to the trail head, but I was tired, so I called it and walked back to the car.

Paddle (Surf Ski) 2:05:00 [3] 6.6 mi (18:56 / mi)
ahr:115 max:159

The other surf skier in the club, Bev, came out and we spent a little time behind the break wall, but I wasn't feeling like I wanted to go out into the swells for 2 hours. I only have about 30 minutes of swell paddling in me right now. Bev preferred to paddle in the harbor, so she showed me the harbor loop that I can go on when the ocean is too big or when I'm alone. It was very nice, but my watch died.
We all went out to lunch afterward and the restaurant gave us free soup, salad, and edamame. I guess they go there every week.
