The radar showed a few bands of light rain coming down from the west tip of Gitche Gumee, and sure enough this run started in misty drizzle, ran into sunshine, and finished in light rain.
Time includes a couple minutes stopped to record an unusual bird call. Best guess is it was an odd call of ravens; Merlin didn't come up with a match - Merlin's closest suggestion was a Eurasian jay (which is exceedingly unlikely). Never able to spot the bird through tall dense pines - the source appeared to be moving around either high in the pines or above.
Black bear close encounter. Cub and mama popped out of swampy woods onto the trail 10-15 yards ahead of me, but then immediately turned away from me down the trail. Managed to get one photo of their retreating butts before they disappeared around the next bend.
