Red course at Germantown. 2nd place to Tom Svobodny by about 3 minutes. I lost a few seconds on 13 talking to Katie about her torn fingernail, probably a minute or two trying to bash thru the green leaving 14, and at least a couple minutes looking in the wrong reentrant for 15 (I blew a control in this same spot last year and I am convinced that the map is less than perfect there. Then I blew another minute trying to cut thru woods from 15-16, where the light green turned out to be rather thorny and slow. Ouch!

Walnut Hills HS. Although this was mostly open school grounds, the mapping was a pain because of many changes to the property since the aerial photos, eg new parking lot, removed 2 tennis courts, rebuilt the football field and track, etc.

Eagle Creek East. Night Score-O with 2 hour time limit. Swept all controls with about 13-15 minutes to spare. Fun event, although the map is less than perfect in a few places. It was fun carpooling with David_Waller and cedarcreek. Great late dinner afterwards at Some Guy's Pizza.

Sebald Park. Planning courses and minor map updates. Biggest challenge was adding a new horse trail through a fairly bland area, and having some problems with how it matched up with other features.

Glidewell Trail at MSRA with Jeremy Franklin. Jeremy hasn't been running as much as I have and we walked up the steeper hills, so I'm counting this as a 2 for effort.

out and back on north end of Wolf Creek section of Adena Trace Trail. This section is rockier and more overgrown, so I felt like I kept a more constant effort even though overall pace was not any faster.

road running 33:37 [3] 4.0 mi (8:24 / mi)
weight:158lbs shoes: Starter Carson 4

Road run on Brookville Lake Scenic Trail with Jeremy Franklin. Intensity varied from 2 to 4. Started out with Jeremy at his pace, but he decided to turn around somewhat before the 2 mile halfway mark and challenged me to run the full distance and catch him before he got back to his car. I couldn't pass that up, although I did think he was turning pretty darn early to give me much of a chance. But he must have lagged a little, because I caught him with nearly half a mile to go. He did edge me out in a sprint of the last hundred yards or so, but since he's 20 years younger, I guess I can't complain about that.

miles: 9:21, 8:39, 7:23, 8:14
