Orienteering race (SOL) 45:09 [5] *** 7.59 km (5:57 / km) +230m 5:10 / km
spiked:15/17c shoes: inov8 x-talon 212

SOL 3 - DUNROD HILL pretty good run - won the first split by over 30s! :D

Quite a hilly area but incredibly open, good fun(not a tree that I saw!) and... Thankfully... No pits ;) fast start hitting all the conrols bar #2 where I lost 10s with a longer route choice :) very physical up the hills....

#6 I went too a crossing point... Unfortunately it wasn't the one I thought it was (it was 100m Weat of the one I thought I was at -.-) this meant I ran with nothing matching till I hit #1!!!?!? Luckily it wasn't that far of the fastest line but I still lost a good 1.5minutes mucking about :(

next control I lost 5s completely decking my self - complete face plant into a muddy, marshy ditch :'( nice one... :P apart from that I was fine to #7 ;)

#10 I was good on my line till I hit my attack point, the wall, but couldn't find the ruin, the other part of my attack point :( I knew as I ran it that I should have aimed off :/ :( lost about 2/3mins on the other side of the wall :P rest was all good :)

Won by 5mins up on Finlay Todd and 3 on the Guy just ahead (he wasn't an M16)... Lost about 5mins :/

shoes: Nike Lunarglide 4

Got really bored so decided to go for a run - initial plan was to get as much climb in as possible but then I discovered a new part to the golf course :D went and explored that for a while and it went on and on and on! :D still got more to scout out some other time :)... But yea a bit longer than initially planned ;)

Made sure I took it nice and easy before the sol :)

Orienteering race (JK) 22:04 [5] *** 4.53 km (4:52 / km) +105m 4:22 / km
spiked:17/19c shoes: inov8 x-talon 212

JK - DAY 4 - RELAY - 48minus (started at the same time as a host of other relays that all had either the same or incredibly similar gaffles as mine :P)

I was initially down to run 3rd leg with James Ackland and Freddie which would have been a pretty good competitive relay team... However... The previous day had taken a toll on my teammates - two orienteering fatalities (ok well not quite) but basically they were out for today :(

So by myself I was promoted to first leg ;) (my favourite! :D) smashed it out at the start... Orienteering seems so much easier under no pressure! :P (although the area was so nice... There was like proper features... And paths...!! :D)

Beasted it leading some M18's and some others all the way to #4 :)... Here I accidentally went one re-entrant too far meaning I lost 20s... Unfortunately that meant quite a few people got about 15s on me and I was left to slog it out to catch back up with them :P

Caught up with the leader - a French M18 where we raced the controls leading up to the spectator - I kicked and nailed the two spectator controls gaining a bit of time on him... Only to not see where the red lime went to and to head off towards the final control for some reason!? Lost 30s and then suddenly realised nobody on my course was going in my direction -.-

Realised and bombed off as fast as I could to catch up with the French guy and Ali Thornton (who had gained 10s on the French guy) l. Ali had a different gaffle from me and the other guy so led us into almost every control... Except it was the wrong one :S annoyingly had to quickly relocate with pressure building as I could here the finish cheers!!! :P

Relocated - nailed the rest - caught up with the French guy and had a really fun Sprint finish with him where I absolutely annihilated him ;) wasn't quite enough to catch Ali though... He was 3s ahead of me!! So close!! :P (annoyingly he did the exact same thing to me last year -.-)

Overall the JK weekend was great fun - I really enjoyed it and had good fun getting hopelessly lost a couple of times on the seriously hard areas but in the end that's my best JK result ever and I didn't massively blow a day (as I have been renowned for doing on big races) so overall I'm pretty pleased :)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: inov8 x-talon 212

Warm up and down :D :)
