Event: CNYO A meet

Run warm up/down 20:00 [1] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: 9/2006 Integrators

Warmup before sprint

Orienteering race 12:00 [4] *** 1.8 km (6:40 / km) +70m 5:35 / km
shoes: 9/2006 Integrators

Middle sprint (they called it something else).

I stewed over this a bit on Saturday. Maybe I'll write more later.

Run warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: 9/2006 Integrators

warmup before middle

Orienteering race 57:00 [4] **** 6.3 km (9:03 / km) +285m 7:23 / km
shoes: 9/2006 Integrators

"Middle distance."

Started first because I obviously finished last in the sprint. It was fun to start first.

Didn't help that I took about the most high resistance routes whenever possible.

Note

Looks like a low volume week. It is hard to get a decent for me (inadequate according to some) amount of training if I miss any days. This week, likely two.

And running in the dark every night is such a drag. Guess I got to get used to it...

Run 30:00 [2]
shoes: Reeboks

Ran around the soccer fields many, many times.

(TNT got moved off the track due to some gladiator sport occupying space...)

The grass was a nice alternative, though.

Run intervals 6:00 [4] 1.26 mi (4:46 / mi)

6 x 1 minute with 1 minute between

Straight-line intervals on the two soccer fields. It was getting pretty dark.

Run warm up/down 13:00 [2]

Between intervals and cooldown.

Flatter route. Same as last night.

Also some strides at end.

Map Hike/Run 1:00:00 [1] ****
shoes: New VJ Spikes

More sprint stuff. I'll take credit for 1 hour.

Note

So the SS Finals are over and I am pleased with the outcome. No real problems that I care about, and the winning times I expected (as opposed to the expected winning times) were achieved with the level of precision I will tolerate.

All the ancillary stuff worked very well. The national anthem was a welcome touch of class.

The competition was good, that's for sure.

I was still disappointed by the lack of Canadians, but Jon and the bona fide north of the border Romainian Nick represented well.

And, in general, more Canadians would have been redundant, anyway. No one can touch the HVO trio. They are too good.

Note

Left glute problem started around now.
