Mtn Bike 3:15:00 [3]

Set out for a climb of Col de la Forclaz in the overcast and chilly day. However, about 2/3 of the way up, I passed through the cloud layer and the sun was warm and the sky was clear. Down below was a 'lake' of cloud, leaving only the peaks in view. Very cool. I headed down the south side and came back via Col de Bluffy and the east side of Veyrier.

Paddle 3:10:00 [3]

While it's mid-November, it was a sweet set of conditions for a paddle - 10C, light winds, glass-like lake, snowcapped peaks to the south, a little bit of cloud with the sun peaking through. I cruised for the first 2 hours no worries, until these idyllic conditions changed for the worse. As I headed back north, the winds picked up, the waves grew, and it took quite a bit of effort to keep the canoe straight and moving forward. Good Tomcat training if nothing else.

Wednesday Nov 13, 2013 #

Trail Run 1:15:00 [3] +680m
shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 3

Up to Col des Sauts via the Talabar and Veyrier du Lac route giving it what I had using poles and a 6kg pack. Sleepy tired for the first while and once at the top, it was nice to breathe in the cool, damp, and still air. Starting to get extra careful now as I don't want to get injured before CR so the downhill was a little on the lame side.

Mtn Bike 3:00:00 [3]

Day off today and had some decent sun to head out for a chilly afternoon ride. Headed to the top of the Semnoz via the main road and a dirt track offshoot. I managed to stay away from the little front ring which made for a challenge. Not nearly the challenge of getting down the south side as it's full-on winter up there and I froze...a lot...too much, really. My hands and feet turned to ice and after a few kms, I had a hard time braking or keeping the bike from wobbling uncontrollably. The hot shower at home was so, so sweet.

Core Workout 1:00:00 [5]
shoes: 5 Fingers

Got lots of CR packing done today during the cold rain out of doors. Weeanimal's interest in helping waned from time to time. Fired off this Insanity session with Leanimal for extra intensity. Her jumps were particularly sick.

Paddle 2:50:00 [3]

Knocked 10 min off my previous two times around the north end of Lac Annecy.

Trail Run 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: XA Pro 3D Ultra (CDN colour)

Trail run with Seb on La Mandalaz with a very loaded up pack. I wanted to feel what it was like with the weight of Zoolander on my back...

Mtn Bike 1:50:00 [4]

Post-work ascent riding up to Villaz, Naves, and then to the Col de Contribandier...in the cold rain, naturally.

Trail Run 1:25:00 [3] +800m
shoes: Salomon S-LAB 5 XT SOFTGROUND

It's as though Harps the weather jinx is in town...bloody cold and rainy every day of late! The rain and fog made it a little difficult to see at night but I picked my way up to Col des Sauts and back on the very sketchy and mucky trail. Thankfully, I didn't bail.

Core Workout 1:00:00 [5]

This bout of jet lag is killing me. Thankfully, there's episodes of Sons of Anarchy to catch up on at 2h00! Super sleepy but managed to get the gumption necessary to fire this intense core session off.

Paddle 1:20:00 [3]

Jet lag is killing me as is the 8 US cities in a very short period of time. After a few naps and waiting for the miserable and cold weather to pass, I dragged myself down to the lake for a late afternoon paddle.

Road Run 30:00 [2]
shoes: XR CROSSMAX 2

Had a bit of time before my morning meeting so forced myself out onto the rainy streets of midtown NYC. Running in the city isn't quite the same as a trail to say the least...
