Running 1:00:00 [2] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
(sick) shoes: Jalas O shoes

Technical Training at Para Wirra. First of five such sessions. Susanne set this one. I was some sort of assistant coach or somesuch. Tyson tells me I'm also down as that on the Arrows funding agreement...

Started off with a short warm up loop with a couple of controls. Did this with the guys (Tristan, Lachlan, John, Tyson) while Susanne took the girls. The aim was to go straight between points and be looking left/right/ahead for any features to keep you on the line.
This lead into the longer (by which I mean just under 3km) loop. This was similar to control picking except again it was more designed to be done as a direction control and vision excercise, as you were basically meant to always go straight and pick up all the point features along the way for direction. I shadowed Tristan around this, talking about what we were doing, either me suggesting things or having him describe what he was doing. Generally good, but he did make one biggish error on a downhill leg, which could have been avoided if he had been concentrating more on features along the way.

Then I went around to collect flags and tapes. Lauren came too to see what I did. Good to see her wanting to learn as much as possible.

Netball 40:00 [3]
shoes: NB 1223

Sunday Social Netball.
Last game until next year. Was a change for me as I wasn't feeling anywhere near as stiff as usual.
Won 26-19

Running long 2:00:00 [3] 25.5 km (4:42 / km)
(sick) shoes: NB 1223

Another early morning long run. Started at quarter to six from Brighton. Did Jetty to Jetty. However my other jetty was Port Noarlunga, not Glenelg. This made it a significantly longer excercise.

It was a bit cloudy so didn't see the sun come up as I went through Seacliffe. This was probably beneficial though, as the rest of the run would have been quite uncomfortable if the sun had have been out. Ran the Marion Coastal Walking Trail for the first hour. Other Arrows may remember this track from two years ago (i think). Its the one with "Caution, steep ascents and descents: Numerous Stairs" (it goes along the clifftops, and there are lots of erosiong gullies to cross). On the plus side, this time I was only going one-way so didn't have to do the return journey. On the down side, it turns out theres more stairs past where we turned around last time.

This trail also went through Hallet Cove Conservation Park, which would make a great sprint map at 1:5000ish if you were aloud off the tracks. Its basically completely open but has a lot of small countour detail from erosion and rocks and cliffs. Oh well.

I had been a bit concerned about how I was going to get past Port Stanvac when I started this run, but I figured as I was on a proper walking trail I should come out somewhere useful. Turns out no, and at about the hour mark the track just the 3m high uncrossable fence and stopped. This meant i had to head 2-3km inland to get around the industrial area. Followed this up by getting confused in Lonsdale and Christies as I fought my way through suburbs back to the coast to relocate. Once back at the beach got onto a track that looked to follow the bottom of the cliffs around to Pt Noarlunga. Instead, for the second time of the run, the track just ended, this time blocked by a cliff. Clambered back to the Esplanade and ran down into Port Noarlunga.

Then I just had to find my way to the Noarlunga Interchange to catch a train back. I wasn't actually sure where this was so just followed main roads around for a while, before being quite relieved to see the Colonades (adjacent the station). Sat in there for 15 minutes watching the shooping centre open around. Michel's had all their cakes out on food court tables. This made me hungry so I got a crossiant. Then caught the train back to Brighton, and drove home.

Running tempo 30:00 [4] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)
(sick) shoes: NB 902

Summer Series: Thorndon Park.
Still blocked up and not able to breathe properly. Still managed a good cruising pace as the legs felt pretty good. Lost a bit of time due to the second last control being wrong.

Running 35:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:00 / km)
(sick) shoes: NB 1223

Morialta. Normal loop. We got there late so I had to chase down the others by the carpark to find out where they went.
The cough I've had for a week finally developed into a cold, so was taking it pretty easy tonight as I couldn't breathe so good. I think taking a break from the morning intervals tomorrow would be a good course fo action.
