Orienteering race (Nav Dash) 45:00 [3] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

What a learning experience.
I only managed to about control #13 before I felt a niggle in my knee & I chose to walk in. I had a couple of nav meltdowns but learnt a few important lessons.
1. Don't follow - I ran straight past a control because I assumed the person in front new where they where going.
2. Read the description - If I hadn't waited until after the event to read the control descriptions things would have gone much better.
3. Listen for the beep - I think I didn't tag a couple of controls properly as I was rushing ( didn't matter in the end)
4. Don't rush
5. Trust the map - at one stage I was starting to think the map was wrong when I was standing at one control thinking I was at another (see #2)

For a first time, although I didn't finish I was happy with what I took away from the event. Can only improve from here.....
I think the knee will be fine but it wasn't worth the risk.

When I got home I had Ice on my left knee, a heat pack on my left shoulder (from yesterday) and my left nut was just right.......

Run 10:00 [2]

Decided to get a quick jog in around the oval before picking the girls up from school. I haven't run for a while and wanted to check if my knee would play up in the nav dash.
After 2 laps I stopped at the playground to do some chin ups on the monkey bars and felt a sharp pain just inside my left shoulder blade (like an electrified knife stabbed into my back)
I have some scar tissue from a previous injury and hope this is just nerve related and nothing new.
After picking up the girls I placed some heat tape on and will see how it goes at swimming.
Knee felt good!!

Swim (Pool) 50:00 [3] 1.6 km (31:15 / km)

Met matsiv at the Arena who was already swimming.
I started in the 25m pool to loosen the shoulder up and it felt fine after a few laps. 1 km in 25m pool then I jumped into the 50 ( and nearly had a heart attack as it felt so much colder ).
200m with the pullbouy then I surprised myself by managing 100m with the kickboard. My last attempt I fell just short of stevej when I cramped up at the 10m flags. I really need to work on this as I hardly kick at all when swimming.
Back into the 25 which now felt like a spa for some faster laps and messing around with matsiv and I doing laps on a single breath and underwater laps.
Some tingling in shoulder after I got home, I think it will settle down in a few days.

Swim (Pool) 50:00 [3] 1.7 km (29:25 / km)

Swim at Beatty park pool, swimming carnival in 50m pool so I swam in the indoor 25m pool which is way to warm for my liking.
All freestyle with some stretching in the shallow end.
