Note

It's been a while... time to start logging again.
After 2 ½ months of feeling shattered after 1 training session and needing a few days to a week to recover before feeling like getting out again I was able to start doing a few regular sessions a week early January. I still get headaches every day (mostly in the evening and a few very bad days) but it is now more like a niggling injury with the occasional flare up.
I managed to gain 6-7kg in the 2 ½ months after my fall but 5 of those are gone now and I'm starting to feel up to some proper training now.

Ride (Commute) 41:12 [3] 16.86 km (24.6 kph) +135m
ahr:151 max:164 shoes: Giant OCR3

I have done a few commutes home in the last couple of weeks, taking my bike in on the train to get some early work done then riding home after work. Previous rides have been on the MTB but I took the road bike today as I wanted to get home a bit quicker.
I wasn't too happy when I started heading home in the middle of the day into a stinking hot NNW headwind but I was glad to have the road bike to make things a little easier.
About half way, just after passing under Warwick rd the bike path follows around a cul-de-sac where I usually jump onto the road to go around the corner then back onto the path... today I kept on the path going around the sweeping curve only to start sliding on some sand across the path. I thought I was going down but managed to straighten up and get the bike under control. When I looked up I was heading straight towards a pole and sign and hit the post of the sign straight on, stopping me suddenly and lifting the back wheel up before landing in a heap luckily on some sand.
When I got up I had a flat front tyre and as I started pushing the bike into some shade to change it the back wheel wouldn't turn as it had a nice buckle in it. Half way between Warwick and Greenwood train stations I walked back to Warwick and caught the train home.
The GPS has me going from 25.4km/h to 0, luckily all I seem to have is a slight calf strain and a bike that needs fixing.
I wasn't enjoying the ride anyway.
