Yoga 35:00 [2]

Legs feeling very tight and sore after quite an increase in riding this week.
Felt much better after yoga, I can barely get my body into a position that resembles what the instructors are doing but I feel the benefit afterwards.

Strength /Core 15:00 [2]

15 mins of core work after the yoga then some extra stretching.

MTB 1:53:17 [3] 25.0 km (4:32 / km) +409m 4:11 / km
ahr:135 max:181 shoes: Giant Anthem X3

A good ride on various trails from the Dell with Jacko, Liz, MattJ, Neil, Alistair and Gianni leading the way. A good mixture of trails today, I still need to work on the tight corners and picking lines through the rocks a bit more... I really sucked on the rocky tight corners. Otherwise I was feeling more confidant than last time.
I felt very tired today but the pace was easy so only really felt the legs struggling a bit on the last bit of climb on the MundiBiddi back to the Dell.
The tiredness probably affected me more with the technical stuff with a few clipped trees and minor offs that could have been avoided with a bit more attention.
Very bad headache for most of the afternoon, possibly from overdoing it when I was already very tired or possibly just a bad day that would have been the same if I didn't ride, I'll choose the later as the ride was more fun than rest.

Stats approx as the GPS reading affected by the trees, distance off a bike computer so should be close.

Ride (Commute) 1:18:02 [3] 36.01 km (27.7 kph) +241m
ahr:151 max:165 shoes: Giant Anthem X3

Took the bike in on the train again for an early start then ride back to Clarkson after work.
Warm ride riding back starting about 12:30, I caught and passed a roadie cruising along near Leederville, then coming through Stirling civic gardens I saw him up in front of me again. After catching up after crossing the freeway I asked him which way he went as it was obviously better than my route, he went down Hector St before crossing which saves the waiting at 2-3 sets of lights at Hutton St... good to know.
I really struggled on any hills after Edgewater and realised that the vegemite scroll and ice coffee that I had this morning after a fasting blood test was probably not enough fuel as I'd had nothing since 8pm last night and didn't have any lunch before the ride. No gels or bars with me today but I made sure I drank plenty and luckily the wind was very helpful on the second half of the ride. I felt very weary when I got off the bike.

Ride (Commute) 1:17:30 [3] 36.03 km (27.9 kph) +237m
ahr:152 max:175 shoes: Giant Anthem X3

I wasn't sure how long the legs would last with my first back to back riding days for a long time. I knew I had a busy day tomorrow with work and appointments so the legs will get a good rest so I decided to put in a decent effort and see how things went.
It turned out much better than I thought with my fastest commute yet and I managed to push pretty hard until the end.
I much prefer the MTB over the road bike for this commute as it's much more comfortable over all the cracks and bumps in the freeway bike path. It also requires a harder effort so better use of my training time but I'll have to start leaving a change of clothes at work so I can use a smaller back pack.
Feeling pretty shattered now.... good times :-)

Ride (Commute) 1:23:07 [3] 35.58 km (25.7 kph) +209m
ahr:151 max:164 shoes: Giant Anthem X3

I ended up with a couple of nice bruises after my fall on Friday but they only hurt if I poke them and the calf is not sore anymore. It was nice to see that the predicted strong southerly wasn't in yet so I drove to Clarkson station and rode in from there as I started a bit later this mornIng, I finish later as well so will catch the train home and ride home tomorrow.
Very muggy morning so the occasional shower was nice to cool things down. The wind did start picking up about half way through the ride and slowed things down a bit but I managed just enough of an effort to have a little mouth spew not long before finishing... a good indicator of a solid ride.
