Event: SOL 6

Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [3] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: swoops

W/u ~ with dad in the field and then more on my own near the start.

W/d ~ little jog back.

Orienteering race 1:10:54 [4] 6.3 km (11:15 / km)
shoes: swoops

SOL 6 at Forvie.

First one went wrong. Unmarket marsh and I just ran, direction slightly wrong, next time I looked at my map I decided I'd crossed the big marsh so started navigating as if I was there. Things weren't quite right as I didn't think I'd come far enough but the scale was 1:7500 so I just asumed I wasn't used to it, as thought things had come up quick. Couldn't relocate as everything was wrong as I wasn't where I thought. Then saw a massive marsh to my left which I realised couldn't not be marked so ran around it but didn't take the time to navigat into control. Eventually after coming of the little hills I found my tiny tiny re-entrant.
2 and 3 ok. 4 was compass and pacing but then people around me carried on so I went with them....they were wrong, found the control before me and ran off and eventually I did.
5,6,7 ok. 8 okish....stopped a bit too short as there was unmarked green and near the control there was green.
9, caught the people up again and wanted away so ran and went too early.
10, tried to get away again and was too far left then too high.
11 ok. 12 was standing looking at my map and it was right infront:P.

Not good at all.....very disappointed. Know what I did though and need to trust myself more and make sure I use my compass for direction on long legs in open.

Event: SOL 5

Orienteering warm up/down 30:00 [3] 2.5 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: olway speed

W/u ~ in car park with dad and then running to the start.

W/d ~ jogged most of the way to download from finish.

Orienteering race 1:05:58 [4] 6.1 km (10:49 / km) +295m 8:43 / km
shoes: olway speed

SOL 5 Coull

It wasn't as horrible as I had expected. First half was in pretty runnable and quite simple area. Controls 1-3 were quite good. Then at 4 I was put of my a bit of open making me think I wasn't in the correct place but I just couldn't see the yellow in the marsh on my map. 5 ok. 6 was tricky but simplfied it. Tricky getting to the path and was pushed right by felled area.
7 ok. 8 I was running more than orienteering and was too high but realised quick enough. 9 was the same and ended up looking on the crag too early. 10 and 11 ok. 12 I made a paralell error so looked on the hill to the right. 13 was tricky because of the rides being everywhere but ignored then in the end and was ok. 14 and 15 fine.

Sooo ok run. Nothing special, too many little wobbles.

Note
(rest day)

Beginning of the recovery. Bit later than last year due to the fact I wanted to have a go at some races just passed as I had not had a good year due to anaemia...etc etc. So not much running, no specific training before the long hard winter kicks in.
