Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)

I warm up, don't have much energy. Between the races I rest in the shade, sleep a little bit and have to run to wake me up afterwards. I should warm up more, but it seems redundant it if so hot.

Map practice with Ernst Linder on the Bisbee Hill map. We check out rock features, the famous aspen stands, the yellow and white mapping. We try some hard uphill sprints and end up gasping for air with the heads spinning.

Running 10:00 [3] 2.0 km (5:00 / km) +20m 4:46 / km

Warm-up for sprint. The air is thin, the prairie is wide open and my legs are filled with pudding.

Running 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km) +50m 5:43 / km

Wildcat Hills, Gering, NE. On the drive to the 1000 Days. A beautiful small campground on the top of some hills. I run, relax and watch the full moon coming up. It is warm, wonderful to run. I get used to the 5000 ft above sea level with some sprints. Beautiful landscape, great easy run, flying in the warm night air.

Relax warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Reviving the body, trying to wake up from the daze of the long drive. I watch the bright night landscape while I do some martial art stretching and breathing.

I start to feel the elevation when I run. Otherwise I am in good shape, thank to the cruise control, which takes some stress off the right leg. Driving in Nebraska is almost like desktoping with the computer, punching the speed up and down on the little buttons on the steering wheel.

Running 40:00 [3] 6.0 km (6:40 / km) +30m 6:30 / km

York, NE, Exit 360 on I-80. Wow, wide open plains, corn field and some heavy clouds on the horizon. I hope the thunderstorm stays away from here. Not. Two hours later we swim on the mattress in the tent and have a sight and sound show all night. A dreary morning follows, I dry the stuff in the tumbler.
