orienteering 2:48:39 [3] 7.5 mi (22:29 / mi) +250m 20:23 / mi
shoes: Falcon VJ - Footlok

One for the books. Since I was the only competitor in M-75, I won my age class by finishing. I believe I was almost the oldest person in attendance today - a dubious honor. I blew one control so badly, that I now realize I was OFF THE MAP! (SSE) It's been 15 years or so since I accomplished that. I can only take credit for not surrendering and by finishing. I did have adequate energy for the event; however I am now very, very tired. So, yesterday I had a decent run, but was DQed, today I had a terrible run and was rewarded with a medal. Such is the sport of orienteering - or something. Maybe that's life sometimes. Did have a great companion and chauffeur this weekend in AnnieMac - thanks Annie.

Although I visited all the controls, I apparently did not punch the water control - nullifying a pretty good run for me. I (would have) beaten all the men on Brown (M-65, M-70) and all but two of the women. Very disappointing.

Ditto yesterday, except in Crum Woods.

This means walking, jogging ant bearing-taking and paying a lot of attention to leaving the control in the right direction - using an old Quantico map.
