Orienteering (blue) 2:18:57 [3] *** 9.5 mi (14:38 / mi) +470m 12:41 / mi
ahr:128 max:171 spiked:13/19c slept:7.0 weight:174lbs shoes: VJ Falcons 2022

Distance traveled 8.1 miles 340m climb (quite a bit less climb than advertised but a lot of added distance.

The course stopped being fun about 2/3 of the way through so I stopped trying to push it. I thought the mountain laurel and holly should be mapped a shade darker. Much of it was mapped as light green but it wasn't something you could run through. The low lying areas were hit/miss on how much water they would have. Some were dry and good footing. Others were muddy bottom marshes. I kept dry for awhile but eventually got muddy/wet.
Much of the course decisions were climb vs running around on the indeterminate marsh areas. The few times I ran around I also encountered down fall but often meant I had to climb anyway so all I did was add distance and not save climb.
Early I was very hesitant trying to read the reentrant systems.
I screwed up #7 badly. I am not sure what I did but I think the marsh was much smaller than mapped and that through me off.
14-15: I was just trying to find a way though the green. It would have been faster to run way to the left and avoid the green. When I finally got to the trail, the trail had overgrown debris on it. Since I was just running to the end I wasn't pace counting and cut into the woods way too soon. Fortunately I figured this out quickly so didn't loose too much time. I had to make several detours around the debris on the trail and still cut in too early. I found another control and it took me a long time to figure out where it was.

Several of the controls were hidden so you couldn't see the feature or the control.

Orienteering (control pickup) 1:02:28 [1] 2.24 mi (27:53 / mi) +140m 23:21 / mi
shoes: VJ Falcons 2022

Control pickup. A lot of climb still to pickup. I still had troubles doing pickup in the same area I had troubles on the course. Fortunately I drove to a closer parking area so it was much less distance to cover to get there. I was seriously wiped out after because of all the climb.

Run (trail) 50:34 [3] 5.27 mi (9:36 / mi)
ahr:137 max:154 shoes: Asics Kayano 2022

Ran outside in shorts and long sleeve shirt. 50 degrees out. My legs got cold, and I was sweating on top half. Maybe I should have gone long pants and short sleeves.

Did three loops on the trails and fields behind my house. Still lots of down trees to jump over, climb over, or go around.

walk (Road with Darcy) 40:21 [1] 2.06 mi (19:35 / mi)

Short walk when Darcy got home from work. It wasn't real cold but the wind made it feel that way.
