Hike back out from Acid lake to pick up canoes! Heavy pack, slippery trails, but ooooh so pretty.

Paddle into our site on Killarney lake. Good pace.

After arriving and setting up camp the weather started to get pretty crappy. So we made the decision to paddle out and head home.

Killarney - Backpacking into Acid Lake. Heavy heavy pack when you're carrying 'camping wear' and 'training wear' and you racing pack. Trails were very wet, muddy with lots of slick rock to go around, but still so nice to be out on trail in Killarney. Such a beautiful park!

We set up camp had a little food and then headed out for a trek/nav practice. A few big climbs and some nice views. Nice to head off trail. Saw a bear in the distance... Where it was fairly close to our campsite. All was still intact when we got back - food still hanging, tents un-mauled. :). Judging by the scat, there were a lot of bears in the area.

TNT - First 4-ish km hurt a whole lot. Quite hot, and very humid feeling. Legs felt like wood, lungs not quite fully operational, but as with so many people, once I warmed up (and it cooled off a bit - yay!) the rest of the run was quite lovely! Took a different route, running 'mecca' twice (ouch), and ran a section of trail I've never been on before. Run was longer than usual which was kind of nice after I got over the initial hump. :)

Alas... while I rescued a number of frogs during road crossing surveys (tree frogs and green frogs and leopard frogs, oh my!), none had their wee froggy lips puckered, so I am still ('le sigh') prince-less. :)
