Running 2:03:00 [3]

Around the parks with some extra loops then down to Bingeman's and home. I can't wait for the clocks to go back so I can run with some light again.

Orienteering race 1:22:00 [2]

Aubrey's first orienteering race and she did awesome.

Aubrey and I did the 5 k at peak to peak with her in the backpack and me acting as the Sherpa. She did really well the whole time we were out and even took a brief 20 min nap in the middle of the course. My nav was really good, which makes sense considering we were just walking the whole time. There were a few up hills that were tough given I had her on my back (from 4 to 5 was a real slog to get up the slope). Overall she had a good time, I think, although we lost our snow boots twice near the end and that forced me to double back and loose a few minutes to find them.

Running long 3:55:00 [3]

I signed up for the 6-hour Horror Hill race in Waterloo to give me some mileage leading up to Lookout Mountain. I figured this was going to be pretty tough mentally since the race is run on a 2.5km loop. The hardest part was that it snowed for the first 3 hours and the trail was just a terrible mess. At around the 25km mark I was already starting to loose interest in the loops and the trail had become just a big slop fest with no traction at all. I committed to run 40 km and see how it was at that point. At the 40 km mark the snow had stopped, but the trail was still terrible. Also my hip flexors were really tight now trying to stabilize myself the whole time to avoid going down (which I did at least once). So I finished the loop for 40 km and decided to just head home.

Not a great race for me, but still a good long run that is helping to build up my distance. I'm satisfied with the run given the conditions and the course.

Running 2:15:00 [3]

This ended up being longer than originally planned, but I'm not complaining. Normal park loop in Breithupt and Bechtel, but I threw an extra loop in both parks. Then down to Bingeman's and back as the sun came up. This morning was way better than last night and perfect fall conditions. Nice and cool, but no rain.

A really felt like a runner tonight with a cold rainy run after work. It was raining when I started and still going when I finished and I was definitely cold.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Running around with ARK Attack. Including hill repeats, core on the go and some loops of the endurance run. For a workout that we made up on the fly it worked really well.

Running tempo 1:46:00 [3]

Good run along the trail to Kolb park and home. Wasn't feeling this run at the beginning, but kept at it and after about 30 min I started to feel in the flow. My time on this run is probably fastest I've ever done it.

Officially injured now. I can't play anymore until I figure out what's wrong with my wrist. Tried to play tonight, but the pain was a little much and had to stop at half time.

Running intervals 30:40 [4]

4 loops of my hill run. Time is still a bit slow right now, but I suspect that's because the legs are tired right now. A few more weeks and then I expect it to come down.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]

A lot of running around in the woods with 2 hours of nav instruction for both groups. The ARK attach is really getting the navigation. Really disappointed I can't make it out to Nationals at all this weekend to cheer them on. I suspect a few will have some really good races.

Running 1:20:00 [3]

A little wet this morning. Was woken up with the thunder showers (one boom really shook our house) and wasn't sure if I'd get out or not. Was the storm just starting or ending? Decided to head out anyway and was glad I did. Nice crisp morning to be out for a run.

Park tour (breihtupt then Bechtel) followed by some of the grand river trail until I cut off to home.

4 loops of my hill interval. By the last one I was running on fumes, which means it was a good workout, and I need to do this more regularly.

Running 35:00 [3]

Rest of the time out in the woods.

Running 45:00 [2]

I usually don't log ARK as training, but last night was definitely a workout for me as well.

First hour was core on the go where I decided that the stages inbetween the core workouts needed to run through all the right mud. The second hour was ARK Attack boot camp with a combination of endurance, hill repeats, sprints between goal posts and me sprinting in between each stage with the kids trying to keep up. I was definitely tired when I got home from this one.
