Took Earl to Valens for our first Earlventure of the year. It always amazes me how many people are there in the off-season! Did a look of the main trails, many of which were very wet and I had to bushwach around a few flooded trails which was a good confidence building activity!

I really enjoyed the hike but also couldn't wait to get back to the van for my first happy hour of the year in Earl!

Earl was getting a tire valve fixed today and I was kind of held hostage for the day waiting to find out when he was going to be ready, so I didn't want to stray too far from home. I went to Breithaupt to do some hill training, and was really pleased that nothing in there feels like too much for my achilles. I did get the disappointing news last Monday at physio that it wasn't ready for running yet (so I guess I should stop trying jogs on the treadmill), but I got a new exercise (standing on just the injured leg on my tiptoes) that I think will make a difference in filling in the gaps in my calf muscle.

When I went to pick Earl up, the guy at the shop, who was not particularly friendly to me when I dropped the van off (before he saw inside), wanted to hear all about him and asked if he was for sale. The magic of Earl!
