There's a pic of a 6 year old friend waterskiing behind me and my kayak
here.

You need to scroll down to the second picture.

Very cool! I had the thought that you might be one of those secretive engineer types after seeing the results of your bike tinkering skills; but now there is no doubt who is the real-nerd in the relationship (guess this also explains all the latest and coolest gadgets in your examine room too). Bash you might have to be handing over that iron ring.

You know, the spinfin drive and original pedal kayak design came from Victoria, from a couple of guys named Bob Stuart and Greg Holloway.
I bet Greg would love to give you a test ride in one. He's an oceanographer and a nice guy.

Bent's other nickname is The Fiddlemeister. He prides himself on having all kinds of non-standard gear, e.g. his recumbent bike (source of the name "Bent"), the pedal kayak, an alien-looking custom-built multiple-high-powered-LED headlamp, and a pedal-powered lawn mower that was featured on "As It Happens" and a CBC TV show.

There is no question that he is more of a REAL engineer than I am! I'm one of those engineers who uses my computer a lot and thinks technical thoughts, without actually getting dirty very often. (Although in my early career, I did spend a lot of time in a hard hat climbing around trusses high above the floor in GM factories, so don't go calling me an Engineering Princess!)
