Noticed that you and Simpy have very different readings from run even though we started/stopped from the same place...nearly 7% difference for time and 4.5% difference for distance...any idea why?

time could be due to my garmin not having the autopause set. (just a thought) and as for distance, I am sure i ran further than him. ;)

In all seriousness, distance could be attributed to Suunto providing better adjustments for elevation than my garmin.

Simpy's time was shorter than BiT, which you would expect if Simpy *did* have Autopause on. Or maybe you turned it off and on when the group stopped?

And I've almost always found that an Ambit measures a shorter distance on twisty forest trails than a Garmin due to different error correction algorithms. (Although those algorithms can change over time.) So it seems strange that Simpy's distance was shorter too.

Mrs. Gally and I noticed about a 10% distance difference today between Garmin and Ambit but our times were the same, as they should be.

If anyone in the group has a barometric altimeter (like BiT does), their elevation gain is the most trustworthy.

i did manually pause a few times while i waited for the team to catch up to me. ;)

Yeah distance is likely just the different watch algorithms, as Judy mentioned she had 21.6km or so on her Ambit. As for time, I know I started my watch a few minutes late, but not the 10 minutes difference. Once I started it though, I didn't stop it.

I was going to say the extra distance I had could have been for when I ran back to see if simpy was OK on his big wipe out. But then I remembered, I didn't run back to see if he was OK. :P

Simpy...the walk into and out of the burrito shop does not count.

Maybe next run let's put both watches on one of us and have them run nonstop and comare distance. I definitely think yours is more accurate

Shall I run on the trail with a rolling metre wheel to determine "actual"?

Pace count Escondido, might be easier.
