You ride a Specialized Epic? My current MTB is a Specialized Epic Expert from 2008, back when wheels were 26".

I own a Epic 29er along with a Rocky Mountain Instinct. The Epic is my race bike. It is probably a couple pounds lighter than the Instinct and definitely more racy geometry (it certainly rides faster but is also less forgiving). I don't know that I would recommend it as a one bike quiver - too specific for racing. I also don't love the Brain for every day riding. It has it's place for racing and works well for that but you can certainly feel it working which takes away a bit of the fun. You could certainly look at bikes with 100-120mm of travel (that is likely plenty for Ontario) but I'd go for something with slacker geometry (the Epic is 71 degrees) and a little more beef in the wheels/forks.

Thanks, I've enjoyed my Epic but it has changed so much that I've been wondering whether it should be on my new list. So far, it is - just because of my good experience.

Worth trying if you can but it is definitely in the very specific race bike category these days.
