What arm warmers are you using? I may need to replace mine, I think I lost one over the weekend...
Do you carry extra tubes or a pump when you go for these longer expeditions?
Reverse the arm warmer so the narrow bit is up if sliding becomes a prob.
They're Castelli and can speak to their fuzzy warmness. Got from Sierra Tradingpost... Yes on extra tube, no on pump, which sounds silly, but either I'd find another cyclist with a pump or call Tom to come pick me up if I flatted... will have one for the Deathride though. And thanks for the idea walk - may keep them usable longer if they loosen!
ooh, love the Castelli leg warmers with fuzzy lining. And they're a Portland company! (well, the US branch that is)
Oh really? Didn't know that!
You can get CO2 cartridges - small, light, and they are great for getting road bike level pressures when you flat.
@iansmith Longer expeditions? two hours is short ride by NW cycling standards :)
+1 for the CO2 cartridges for emergencies and races.
Yeah, suppose that's a good idea!
I have used the lightweight arm covers for sun protection a few times. The first time I took a pair to Europe they didn't have my size, so I borrowed a pair from my friend Doug, who is a bit beefier than I am. Let's say I had good forearm protection.
Yup, could have used some sun protection -- most entertaining were the little specks of sunburn from under my Garmin watch strap, where it had holes. Otherwise, got most spots sunblocked, reapplied twice!
