we just bought them, but just waiting for some snow/ice to test the grip of the new vibram technology

Works better than I expected. I doubt they'll work on lumpy ice, but so far so good. They'll rock for snowshoe running or races where there could be a mix of snowshoe on/off- they should be drier than a separate gaiter on a winter shoe.

Actually, I did run on some frozen puddles and icy ground, and was pleasantly surprised- they grip like the surface of the sole was sandy. I think they could lose grip on very irregular surfaces easier than spikes. The gaiter system works really well and they keep you bone dry.

The Razors have Arctic Grip compound. Good enough for 1 snowflake rating, or a 7 degree slope. Spikes would definitely exceed that.
