That sounds like a good, solid run. And in adverse conditions, too, if the weather was like it was in Seattle.

The conditions were typical for cap forest except there wasn't very much snow and a lot less climbing. They did a reroute because the snow was too deep at the top.

pearch told me the times were slower because of the conditions. so the mud and snow slowed everyone down enough to make the course slower than the course with more vert.

I didn't go because I heard there was deeper snow than last year. Last year, my car couldn't even get to the start of the race last year - they had to shuttle people to the start in 4WD vehicles from a parking area lower down. Then there was 4 inches of snow that turned into slush on the top and along the ridge. And if it was going to be worse this year, I thought I would do something closer to home.

I also didn't go because I ran Bridle Trails the week before and had a slightly sore tendon along my ankle/shin. Have any of you tried taping your foot/ankle as a preventative measure for (expected) injuries? Ever since I ran White River last year, I've had nagging tendon issues my left ankle after runs that are longer than 30 miles.

yeah i have used horse wrap called coban. they package the same product for humans but it's cheaper if you buy it at an equestrian store. here is a photo of it. i was doing it for blister protection but it has the added benefit of stabalizing the ankle.
