I would like you to keep breathing, please.
Keep it up. I'm sure you'll get there soon. It was looking pretty good last week.
I’ve determined the only way for me to breath sustainably while swimming is SCUBA or possibly a snorkel ;-)
... so, sorry I can’t be of more/any assistance...
Yeah, I feel like I’m swimming on borrowed air doing Freestyle and need to take a break or switch to a stroke where I can catch my breath after 100m or so.
same issues here so I alternate 100m free, 50m breast stroke
or in the case of this summer I just started water running instead of swimming ;-)
before Covid a big swim run race was in the works for the parry sound area. probably the best freshwater swim run area in the world given the 30,000 islands.
Wow, that's quite a route - 32 swims and 31 runs. It would be beautiful in the right weather - adventurous on a windy day!
Would be fun to do if
A) I could run
b) I could swim.
Race route goes by our house so I will likely volunteer
Breathing gets easier with time and with technique improvement but my two best tips are:
-make sure you are breathing out steadily and completely underwater so that you only need to breathe in when you head is above water
- practice breathing every 3rd or 4th stroke as this then makes breathing every 2nd stroke seem like too much oxygen;)
Thanks Revy. I'm doing the first part, but will try the every-third-or-fourth stroke.
I presume you mean 2 right, 2 left, not 3 pairs of right-left.
My neck isn't happy breathing on my right side but will try.
