Don't really know, and guess it depends what you mean by 'improve running'.
I found that I tended to have a pretty similar natural cadence on the bike and when running (~85rpm and ~170spm - not so much now though as my body has fully forgotten what running is), so if you want to run with a specific cadence then targeting the equivalent on the bike might help. Beyond that, best looking for some sports science journals depending on what improvement you're after
