Any word on where C3 (45) was? After I punched C14, I glanced over towards that corner, but didn't see it then either.

It is too bad that RG is not available for this one; it would be interesting to see the routes you took. I can't believe that there were so few there...I saw footprints everywhere..not just on the trails.

It looks like I didn't miss much. Dearborn County had a level 3 snow emergency until 1pm, and our road wasn't ploughed until mid-morning. (It felt like) it took us HOURS to get the driveway cleared, and we finally made it out around 2pm.

We decided not to put up Route Gadget since we may re-use the courses (since so few people showed up).

45 was on the NE edge of the large thicket in the middle of the clearing about 50 m SE of where it was mapped. I went with Dick to recover it and the control bag (in the edge of the barmbles) was so snow and ice encrusted that it was almost entirely white. Gayle Pille said it was completely snow covered when she found it.

The results look brutal!

In some ways it was like night-O. The honeysuckle bushes were so draped with snow and ice that you could not see more than a few feet and you got a face full of snow when you tried to go through it. The snow depth was enough to slow running, and when crossing fields you had to be careful because the ditches and pavement edges were not visible. Throw in the mis-placed control and a couple "pit in middle of thicket" controls and it was definitely a challenge.

Hopefully some of those issues will be corrected the next time...and hopefully at least the snow should not be an issue!

Only the one control was mis-placed. The ones in pits would not have been so bad except that the honeysuckle was so weighted down by snow that you could not see into it or scuttle in underneath it. Dick really did a great job under tough conditions.
