sweet. well done. and on roads no less. no wonder you pulled away from me on the long boring road run in the SSR. -) congrats.
Thanks Hammer. Feeling pretty good about this one, as I've only timed myself on the 10K Terry Fox runs where I was usually 42 or so, and that's on fresh legs.
I do feel like I have a bit of an extra gear on the flats with all the kneehab and technique work. Oddly enough, I would have won the 40-49 group easily but was only second in the 50-59.
Wow! Sub 40 10km is unbelievable. Great work Bent!
Solid run!! Now put that speed away for a while (i.e. next Sunday).
Great run Bent. Congrats.
Goose, I did it all for you ;) Seriously, I've always wanted to hit the sub-40 benchmark but didn't have the speed when I was just a whippersnapper.
Nicely done 'Bent. I'm looking forward to the SS relay -- everyone seems to be pushing some speed right now!
It's going to be a fun day.
I'll need to keep up the speed work for SS for sure. Hill work is built into my commute.
Awesome time.
I'll need to get some of those kneehab techniques from you
FB, I Go-Pro'ed a kneehab session at Dr. Bell's clinic.
Audio's no good, but I added subtitles.

Hey Bent, well done! Not sure I could run that fast for 1km.
Sub40 - that is awesome!!!
I've suggested that he retire from road racing. That way he can always say that his average 10K time is under 40 minutes.
I never would have doubted that you could do that. Nice one, man.
According to the vdot, his corresponding marathon time would be 3:00:56 so the sub-3 barrier remains unbroken!
'Bent did 3 marathons in 6 months including Boston, and has shown little desire to run on pavement ever since. But never say never...
awesome run 'Bent !!
I hope to get sub40 someday. maybe in my 50s?
my AP stats say I only ran <40hrs in the year since I started the blog - that could be part of the problem. = |
As long as you ran 600 km in those 40 hrs, it's no problem at all! :)
Thanks guys. It seems 50 is the new 39.59!
Pre-surgery/kneehab/technique-change I couldn't break 40.
I think to go sub-3 on the marathon I have to give up my beloved commuting-with-dog-through-forest-as-training-method and get to tracks and roads.
Not for an adventure racer. I expect 'Bent will do a 50K trail ultra over the next year or two. The training-with-a-dog method is better suited to that.
You rock bent!!! Your video is super cool too :)
