I'm going to try that. I've also been hearing how delicious butternut squash sauce over pasta is with crisp fried sage. Can't wait to try that, too. Thanks for the recommendation.

I've been putting squash puree in my oatmeal, with tons of spices of course, and while that's delicious, it's getting old. I may try the bread pudding, though I'm a bit wary of bread puddings... if you say it's good, though, maybe I'll get over this fear of bread puddings.

Actually, this is going to have to wait until power comes back to my oven...

Oooh, nice, maybe I can try squash-sage pasta sauce with the remainder of last night's butternut (only used 1/2 of a big one for the bread pudding).

And Alex, you could make this the final bread-pudding test. If you don't like it, then you don't ever have to try again. But it's soooo delicious, I really think it'll win ya over. =)

Alex and I are thinking of trying this tomorrow. Did you add in any of the extras recommended in the comments?

Mmm, nope, because I initially used the recipe from a CookingLight cookbook, then just found the link online afterwards. I didn't modify much, except I used soymilk instead of real milk, since it's what I had, and it was still scrumptious, although I bet it'll be even better with real milk! Oh, and I used 5 real eggs instead of 2 egg whites, because that seemed like too much hassle... Hope it turns out well!

Sounds like you're moving in the Julia Childs directions, though she probably would have added a stick or two of butter and a cup of cream, always makes things taste better. :-)

It so often does!! =)

This wasn't quite as bad as I wrote though, forgot to mention that the recipe already called for 3 eggs, so was just converting the two egg whites to full eggs.

Gail made this tonight, and it was delicious. I never thought I'd say that about bread pudding. But don't think you've completely won me over yet... this doesn't mean that ALL bread pudding is good, just that the particular one is.
