Like everything on AP, it only matters what is meaningful to you. Riding time, level of intensity, activities like "map study"... It's your log so track things your way! People shouldn't compare logs with others too much; that's where the unnecessary idea of common rules comes into play.

I can appreciate that. Sometimes though, it's interesting to ponder what is meaningful data.

I think I'll stick to my logging elapsed time, either it's for commuting which elapsed time is the only thing that counts, or it's for running/riding where there better not be too many lights or stops [in the forest :-) ]

I think the only common rule around here I see heavily enforced is be sure to round up to the next time / mileage milestone, lol :-) [ok, that and logging walking seems to be a strong second, lol]

I think it's *always* interesting to do that. But each of us has our own idea of what is meaningful to us. One of my AP friends started logging her orienteering volunteer time (intensity 0) this week because she realized that it constituted a huge percentage of her time spent on the sport, and she's been having trouble meeting all her commitments. That is totally reasonable.

I hope by that you mean that people actually have to *go* the extra distance/time! Because the "rule" is that if you've run 19.7 km, then you need to run a little longer to get your distance over 20 km. If anyone runs 19.7 km and rounds up, they will be officially scorned. ;)

I think logging volunteer hours is an awesome idea. When I realized I was volunteering and trial building more than racing and mountain biking, things seemed really out of balance (for me), although I made up for that last year with racing :-D

LOL, and I definitely meant you were expected to actually go the extra distance :-D [Rounding up, short cutting, and any other mis-stating/over-selling would be quite sad indeed...]

Love your first comment Bash!!!! And so true.
I log walking, if i'm pushing a stroller and I'm fine with that :)
Bash - I know you know this, but does anyone else mom log on AP? My mom logs all her walks, aerobics, strength training classes, etc.

full disclosure, I've logged waking and hiking... no shame on that, especially since just getting outside and moving is so good for people.

Definitely no shame in that! I've also seen people do that at times when they're training less because they're injured or really busy at work, and the logging helps keep them in touch with the idea of training and with the AP community. Good for them!

Sherpa, my Mom reads AP but I don't know any other Moms of friends who are logging. That is so cool!
