Discussion: Athletic locker

The distributor of Brooks footwear is RMP athletic and they have a store they sell from at their head office in Mississauga (heartland area). They also have warehouse sales at other locations that often have older inventory. You might get lucky and find your favourite cascadias.

Hey Bent, have you tried the Sense Mantra?

'Bent has the original Sense. I have the Sense Ultra and the Sense Mantra. I've only tried the Mantras once so far. They don't fit me as well as the Ultras, which I really like so far. They are a more minimal shoe than I usually use, so I don't think I would do really long runs in them because my running form isn't good enough. The Mantras are a bit more cushioned but I don't see them taking the place of the SpeedCross for me.

That's good feedback Bash. Thanks! I was looking to see if I can find a shoe as comfortable as the speedcross but with slightly more cushioning mid-foot. I love my speedcross but over long distances I do get sore under foot.

You might check with Phatty to see if he has another recommendation. Is it possible that your shoes are starting to lose cushion from all the hours of running?

Not sure about the Mantra, but in the Sense I could feel every rock. Not much protection or forefoot padding there, which is normally how I like my minimal shoes.

My shoes are pretty new so they shouldn't be worn yet, although if I stick with the speedcross I'm planning ona new pair for the race (only worn a couple of times to ensure there are no issues).

My Hokas have a bit more cushion.... ;)
