Backcountry skiing 3:30:00 [2] +1300m

Another nice day at the Gorge with the weekend visitors (James, Wakana, Carbon, CO, Claire and Mike). Pretty similar route to the last two times but 2/3 new lines. The one repeat from last Monday was really good so it was worth it:) Snow was warmish but 10-15 new had refreshed the sun affected areas. Day got extended as some stuck vehicles both on the way in and out (not ours). Probably the last drive in to the Gorge this year.

Run 32:00 [2] 5.5 km (5:49 / km)

Took the dog out for a bit of exercise and checked to see if I still knew how to run. Legs actually felt OK. Ran along the river and back on the pavement. Snow was solid though a bit uneven.

Backcountry skiing 3:00:00 [2] +1200m

Another good day at the Gorge with Courtney and Catherine. Almost didn't happen when 6k up the Gorge FSR Catherine realized that she forgot her skins. Steve drove them halfway to us from town which was nice. Did a similar loop to Monday although slightly different lines that I had never skied. Nice to again explore somewhere new. Not much new snow and seemed to be slabbing a bit but still decent skiing.

Swim 1:00:00 [3] 2.3 km (26:05 / km)

2/3rds of masters swimming. Was plenty for me though. Actually enjoyed doing some butterfly although only for about 20m:) I actually feel like I am moving through the water somewhat decently.

Classic ski 1:20:00 [3] 15.0 km (5:20 / km) +205m 5:00 / km

Fresh snow finally - not much maybe a few cm but it made the tracks quite slow. They were a bit better after a few people had been on them but it was pretty quiet so generally slow. Interesting comparison of three lap times on Evelyn's: 5:51, 5:20, 5:05. All at the same effort with the only difference being that the glide was improving in the track each time (and I could double pole more).

Backcountry skiing 3:30:00 [3] +1450m

Very nice day at the Gorge with Sean and Rich. The logging was supposed to be done this past week but no snow on the weekend so figured it should still be passable. As it happens the plow is still up there so they may be logging a little longer.

Went and skied a few new spots and a few spots I have only been to once so a very productive day. Climbed from 15 to the 17k summit, down the backside and then up to the main ridge. Pretty decent snow - settled but soft for the most part. A few tracks on the first run and a little sun crust coming back to the car but overall very enjoyable. Day started quite foggy but cleared up nicely and had some good views.

edit - Forgot to mention that it was the first BC Family Day today. We voted to be special and have it on a different weekend than everyone (although the ski hill lobby probably pushed it through so that they could have two busy weekends in a row).
