Backcountry skiing 3:00:00 [3] +1000m

Touring at the Gorge with Carbon and CO. A couple weeks drought and then only 10 cm of new snow last night so wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Found a few spots with less old tracks. Skiing was in some ways easier than last time (you could actually move on lower angle terrain) but in some ways harder (the snow had settled a fair bit making it less forgiving and the early season snowpack makes the terrain undulating so you had to stay on your toes). Went to a couple spots I hadn't been to so that was good.

Classic ski 1:10:00 [2] 11.0 km (6:22 / km) +220m 5:47 / km

A bit of fresh snow made conditions a bit difficult. Track was a uneven and snow was sticking to my skis making the glide a little unpredictable. Classic seemed to bother my back more than skate skiing. Not much double poling today - mainly focused on rhythm and weight transfer in diagonal stride. Good coverage on the upper loops - hopefully they groom tomorrow.

Skate ski 55:00 [2] 10.0 km (5:30 / km) +200m 5:00 / km

Feeling a bit hobbled after the weekend as for some reason my back has really tightened up. I hope this isn't the start of getting old... First ski at macpherson and was pleasantly surprised. Very good coverage up high although lower trails are a bit thin.

Skate ski 1:45:00 [3] 21.0 km (5:00 / km) +300m 4:40 / km

Last day of Supercamp and we moved over to sovereign. Great conditions again with clear skies in the morning and pleasant temperatures. Small group again as there was only two of us and the coach. Covered all the techniques. Seemed like the coach was mainly changing only minor things in my technique which sometimes made sense and other times I thought I was faster with my current technique. Biggest thing to work on is not transferring weight to other ski before I pole on one and two skate. Felt a bit winded on the longer climbs but otherwise OK. Back still sore.
