Hike 4:00:00 [2] 11.0 km (21:49 / km) +1050m 14:46 / km

It has been a very slow start to summer in the alpine due to a persistent winter snowpack. While paddling yesterday I thought the south aspects finally looked clear enough (and the aerial photos looked promising as well). We (Russ and Vikki) decided on a Mt English summit trip from the south side. There is no trail - just a rough trail to the lake and then a general route. I've only been here once about ten years ago and since then the cutblock had been extended further up the hill (road was in good condition). We followed a skid road then bushwhacked a bit uphill until we found the trail (the turn off in the block is hard to see). The fire last summer extended into the alpine here and we walked through several sections of forest with blackened trees and soil. I found the traverse above the lake fine on the way there - took the alternate route on the way back. Very little snow to deal with and the meadows were very green (a week or two before the flowers pop though glacier lilies were out in spots). The steep rock gully was made easier by the snow (which was soft enough to kick steps). Another week and it would be gone I think... the ridge itself is slower travel with a couple steeper boulder sections. Russ was not feeling great so this section was fairly slow. The top is a great vantage point for lots of peaks and glaciers. No issues on the route down other than the building heat. Great to be back in the alpine...

Paddle 2:45:00 [2] 15.0 km (5.5 kph)

Wap Creek with Russ and Vicki. A couple of hours of paddling upstream and then an hour back down. Most of the time we were moving about 4 km/hr. The last km got much slower. There were a couple beaver dams that required lifting the boat over though we could paddle all of them on the way back. Water levels (and consequently current) were higher than normal for this time of year so no issues with shallow sections. It was pretty warm but the breeze helped. We've had over a week of warm temperatures and blue skies - forecast looks the same (and warmer) for the next week.

Paddle 1:10:00 [2] 8.0 km (6.9 kph)

Morning paddle on the Columbia with Courtney. Didn't feel super awake again - can't get out of bed and go exercise right away it seems.

Bike 55:00 [2] 8.75 km (9.5 kph) +245m

Felt like crap this morning - too early or too tired. Up/down most of Flowdown.

Run 32:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:24 / km) +20m 6:16 / km
shoes: Salomon Sense Red #1

Quick afternoon run with Milo. The temperature was more tolerable than I expected. Definitely got some wet feet as the greenbelt trails are flooded. Could only make it to the point...

Bike 1:05:00 [2] 9.5 km (8.8 kph) +300m

Quick ride at Macpherson with Courtney and Milo. Had to change a tire hence the longer running time.
