Orienteering race 51:25 [4] 8.2 km (6:16 / km) +200m 5:35 / km
shoes: VJ Intergrator

Mynydd Llangatwg, Brecons, Brown Course.

Fantastic day, with great views. The first few were pretty easy, then most of the others were also pretty easy, as they hadn't really utilised the best of a superb area. Still much better than looking for caravan wrecks and large piles of woods in leicester. A bit rough, lost 30s at 8, trying to line something up badly, and 30s at 17, stopping too early, and another 30 s at 20 (too far left). Felt pretty flat, maybe developing a cold. Grace was moving maybe a tad quicker, but made a couple of slighty bigger errors. Got beaten by some old bloke from NGOC. I suppose if craney hadn't had a smash with a rock he might have done about 40.

Very relevant for NZ nats, which was good (though prob a bit more difficult :-)

Note

now have a quite a sore throat, and a cold, ah well could be far worse times to get a cold. Next training in Nelson on friday!!

Anyone got a quick LH silva thumb compass of the southern variety I can borrow for nats!?

Mosely Green,
Was going to try and do at least part of this fairly hard, but had miscaculated by quite a lot how hung over I was, so more of a cruise. Nav was patchy on first 4, then hit everything cleanly. Apart from number 10, which wasn't really in the right place. I found it on the edge of the circle, when I had given up. And 14 which was a control in the middle of a large patch of fight! when I had a look, it kinda looked like fight too, so i skipped it. Classic NGOC. Good to get out only the second time I've run on this bit, covered the nice part of Danby lodge as well as the bit of mosely green behind the rising sun. bloody slippery without studs.

Run 30:00 [5]
shoes: Roclite 315

Intervals 10 * 3 min with 1 min rest. A bit further behind bown, than last week. My stomach was still a bit jittery, not huge amounts of energy, probably due to eaten quite a lot less than normal. An alright session, I survived just.

Run 15:00 [2]

Warm up and down

Strength 40:00 [4]

Somehow got convinced to go to BOK circuits, mainly due to the pub afterwards. Was alright, the 1st one was the tougest.

Run 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 315

Run across ashton court, to ashton hill golf course, did a loop round there on some tracks I hadn't run previously behind long ashton. then back into court and round a bit. Then my stomach started to feel really crap, too much unusal hotel food at lunch I think. Dash for home - not very pleasent. So a pretty rubbish run overall.

Run 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 315

Mon night run from risca. ended up with mark B, Timmy, and matt x 2, so was pretty quick. For some reason i just felt abssolutly dead on the hills. Maybe "it's not the night before, but the night before the night before" rule was coming into play. Any nice night for a run, even if iwas so slow on the ups.
