Rogaine race 10:47:00 [3] 44.0 km (14:42 / km)
ahr:110 max:150 shoes: Keen Ridgeline
A couple of personal goals today
1. R foot to outlast knees - knees to last well into the night.
2. Navigation wise - always be aware of where we are, getting a better feeling for the terrain so no more "where are we" moments.
No problems with the foot, only slight discomfort with the knees, so a tick for #1.
Felt much better with the nav, being able to correct quickly if a little bit off.
Tick for #2.
Team goal today was to Nav smoothly and we did very well. A huge improvement on previous efforts and we worked very well as a team.
We spiked most of the controls with a couple of small corrections and 1 missed in the night.
We kept up a good pace only stopping to refill at the water drops.
Bonus points for Matt when he asked Steve if he had punched a control that was worth 100 pts after we had started off towards the next. It wasn't punched so we went back. That would have hurt when we got back in.
About 30 mins before the start we all had a good laugh when Steve realized he had forgotten to bring some non essential equipment for rogaining.............. His PANTS!!!
I lent him my thermal pants with the understanding that I may want them back if it got too cold. This may have been his motivation to keep up a good pace.
After some much appreciated food by the fire we decided a drive home to sleep in our own beds would be the best option. Thanks to Steve and Matt for sharing the drive back as it allowed me to rest up for my drive home from Matt's place.
