Biking-Road 1:45:00 [4] 25.0 mi (4:12 / mi) +25m 4:11 / mi
shoes: Nike Bike Shoes

Beautiful spring Sunday morning. Full sun, not a breath of a breeze, no traffic at 6am. First real bike ride of the season. And man, did I suffer. Just in 25 miles! Completely beat by the time I reached home. Only a year ago I could have done twice this distance, and felt invigorated. Now I just feel painfully stiff, sore and beat. Just like Global Warming, it is amazing how fast natural things can deteriorate.

But good breakfast up on the North Shore, in Wilmette. Huge but thin and delicate crepes, with nothing on them, served flat...with a big glass of fresh-squeezed OJ. Excellent!

NordicTrak 10:00 [3]

Erg rowing 19:06 [4] 4.0 km (4:47 / km)

Two 2k pieces; the best was in 9:03.4 for a pace of 2:15.8. This was still 21 seconds more than my best time from last season. But 15 seconds better than my 2k time three weeks ago.

Erg rowing 24:00 [3] 5.1 km (4:42 / km)

Reduced my 5k PR by a couple of seconds. And set a seasonal mark for the 100m 'dash.' Only one second off my PR from last year...but still in last place on the 70-79 rankings board. I think next time I'm going to use Charlie's technique of short, fast turnovers.

NordicTrak 10:00 [3]

Erg rowing 28:32 [3] 6.0 km (4:45 / km)

Just putting up another target for later in the season. Longest row since my 75th birthday on March 14 - pi Day! Pace was about what Charlie did yesterday...and complained that he was feeling 'weak!'

Played golf yesterday at Carriage Greens GC, and walked 3 miles with my clubs over my back, to and from the bus, train and L train, as well as walking the 18-holes themselves.

A beautiful sunny day...but windy. So no PR. The course is just across the I-55 expwy from the Waterfall Glen O map, and I could glimpse some of those big oak forests from the golf course. Memories of days gone by....
