Snowshoe Raid with Hammer as Team 2 1/2 MENiscuses.
Despite many disclaimers from Hammer pre-race, we raced well.
Hammer was strong out of the gate, and nav was as excellent as expected. We'd planned to drop two controls depending on how the knees were, but decided to only drop one as Hammer was still hammering OK.
In the second hour we did quite a lot of trail breaking to controls, still keeping up a decent pace.

Just before the aid station Hammer ran out of meniscuses, and from then on he just sucked it up and pushed on. The Foreigners (overall winners) only caught us after the TT section, which was pretty good.
We did everything but one low value control and finished with 7 minutes to spare but very few knees left, so Hammer's cunning plan was perfect.

From 27 January 2012

We ended up 1st masters and 5th overall, just behind Bend-hetic and ahead of LeaniPhats, who won the co-ed. Bash and Dee won the female, so a good Caledon showing..

Great to race with Hammer, who nav'ed with precision in the tough bits and pushed through a suffer-fest like a champ in the last hour. We both raced better together than we would separately, which was the idea.

Well organized by G-stix of course!
