Cycling long 5:00:00 [2]

Ride from Forks of the Credit to Elora for lunch, and back.
A very nice ride on a beautiful day. Lots of road crossings (Mostly quiet but some busy) on the rail trail, and some steep hills at FTC at the start and end.

I think lunch was too good, and we overate.

Strength (Home Gym) 1:00:00 [2]

Workout #2- modified shoulder press from seated to standing one-arm 'cos of my back.

Running 1:15:00 [2]
shoes: Ecco Receptor 2

Run around Palgrave East and West with Bash, plus the "off" part of my intervals in Palgrave East.
Cow Parsnips scratch the heck out of your knees!

Running intervals 15:00 [4]
shoes: Ecco Receptor 2

Speed intervals in Palgrave East (5' on, 10' off). This was the "on" part.

Note

I'd planned to run home yesterday and bike back the long way today, but a violent storm and power failure meant I had to drive home after waiting it out.

Cycling tempo (trainer) 45:00 [4]

Rode up to Ax 3 Domains with the 2005 tour. I was grinding away with Lance, Ivan and Jaan at a high cadence, and got so caught up that when I went to shift to a harder gear on one of the climbs found I was maxed out. Time went pretty fast!

Cycling warm up/down (trainer) 10:00 [1]

Again my plans to ride were thwarted by horrible weather, so down to the dreaded trainer.

Cycling (Lawnmower) 35:00 [3]

Yes, that's right, my recumbent pedal powered lawnmower is back in action. I cut the yard in the rain, as the dogs trotted along beside me thinking it's a rather boring bike ride.

Strength (Home Gym) 25:00 [2]

Only partial workout due to time constraints and caution about my back. Slept in a bit after seeing Lord of the Rings yesterday. Interestingly, the cast bios mention athletic acheivements like provincial gymnastic champion, martial arts, track and field etc. Quite a show!

Running hills 40:00 [4]

Threw in some hill intervals in Palgrave on the way to work, running in the steam bath. Hot and sticky, but the air quality's fairly good. A definite zone 4.

Paddlng 1:10:00 [3]

Nothing like an impending thunderstorm, a stiff headwind and fish-and-chips in Killarney to get those kayak paddles flying. Glad we brought them, even if the dogs prevent proper lower body use.

Portage (Portage) 45:00 [3]

Assorted portages. After the monsters of the last few days, 750M with canoe and pack is a piece of cake.

Paddlng 1:30:00 [1]

Nice paddle home (the usual way with canoe paddles). The dogs are worn out!

Portage 50:00 [3]

Back over the monster portage. This time it was cooler and didn't seem as gruelling. We also got to put the boat in a beaver pond in the middle and paddle a couple of hundred meters while the dogs swam.

Paddlng 2:00:00 [1]

We paddled from Great Mountain lake to David Lake, and found a great campsite up high on a rock slope. Later we took out the double blades for an hour's evening tour.

Hiking 1:00:00 [1]

We hiked the ridge behind our campsite for a surprisingly long distance, with many blueberry stops for all of us.
