Chico 24hrs of Summer Solstice. I was invited to join the Caledon Chain Gang.

First lap. Conditions were surprisingly good considering all the sodden ground. For some reason my HR wouldn't settle, and I was trying to recover on the downhills and doubletrack. Legs were fine. Course was back-end loaded with the biggest climbs and most technical stuff.

Note

Bah, just dumped rain all night. Albion 24hr will be a mud bog tomorrow.

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

Home gym workout 1 + rehab.

Strength 30:00 [2]

Rehab plus half of workout 3.

Cycling 45:00 [3]

Adventuredog and I went on the Charlevoix loop, but met 5 horses and the owner, K-bash Jr., having a discussion. He wasn't too pleased about the ponies on his trails. I hadn't met him before. We chatted after, and traded contact info. I offered to help him clear the trails if someone else does the chainsaw work, and he seemed glad to hear it. He's fine with the bike and dog, just nothing that will damage trails when wet. Also will meet up for coffee some time. Whew, we need to stay in his good books. Now we need to find someone with a chainsaw. Wheelie SR. is in his late 80s so he's slowing down with the chainsawing.

Cycling 25:00 [2]

Easy night ride home. Wanted to test my strongest light on the helmet but it never got dark! Gotta love the solstice.

Running 55:00 [2]
shoes: New Balance Leadville 3

Easy run in with the big guy. Legs still a bit sore from Saturday- unbelievable!
I need to train bombing down some big hills more.

Cycling 52:00 [2]

Easy ride to work and back with AD. Quads are still sore from all the downhilling Saturday.

Cycling 1:15:00 [3] 17.5 km (14.0 kph)

Had time after work for a fairly relaxed lap of the 24 hr course at Albion before the evening storm moved in. Not too technical- he's cut some bypasses of some rutted-out sections, skipped the trickier climbs, and it's not too muddy considering all the rain yesterday.

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

Workout 2 and foot/kneehab.
Wanted to bike but the trails are saturated with on-and-off storms.
