I want to do an unsanctioned B meet, just for an excuse to have three races in a weekend, but without generating as many threads about crappy maps or printing as an A meet.

I strongly disagree and would argue that one's personal comfort level should not come into play here, most people are grateful and appreciate the effort, and the comments/discussions are there to help you. And sanctioning is there to help you not to screw up.

Mr Wonderful:
We heard the call - how about an A meet? Approximately 0-1 of the people involved in the last one c. 2008 (not sure if you were, Igor?) are up for hosting another one six years later.

Of the two people in the club who were pro multi day event, their combined number of attended A meets is: 2.

OUSA sanctioning will not:

* hire Zherdev to field check
* hire Ed to print
* ensure meet quality

OUSA sanctioning would:

* consult on courses

which is something I could also get done by say, emailing some non attenders. (I need to ask David about keeping him on retainer...)

I have no authority to hire a field checker to update maps that wouldn't be ready for 6-12 months, and at no time in the near future am I going to learn about the intricacies of working with digital offset printing companies.

I could do an unsanctioned B meet in 2015. Maps would be used as is, courses could be set fairly to account for any issues, maps would be printed at the finest laser at Staples, flags would be in the right place, and it would be worth Minium's while to drive a carload up from OCIN land to enjoy our unique terrain. Everyone would know what they are getting into and expectations would be aligned.

I don't see how I produce an A meet that meets expectations. My impression is the bar's been raised since 2008, so the remaining and unmotivated institutional knowledge isn't even current. There are no resources for me, and none, other than course consulting, provided by sanctioning, unless I am mistaken.

Well, then it is a Saturday-Sunday back to back SMOC meet I guess. Should be easy to arrange, we have enough flags. Chilson/Bishop Lake would work pretty well in that respect as a middle/long combo.

This may bring some more people from within a four-hour drive range, that is true.

Mid-May? Not sure if we care about sprint for this particular event, maybe starting with two days would be enough work
