Please tell me more about these. I would like to retool our stake supply before PNWOF.

Glad you managed to avoid disaster with control hanging! I can very much empathize with the terror you felt when realizing you weren't putting flags out...

Will connect you with Tony Pinkham, who I believe is the one who sourced them!

But they are awesome- lightweight and sharp enough points they went into the ground 100% fine at Dutchman (perhaps easy soil b/c pumice-y, but did even work under light freeze conditions Sun morning).

Lightweight? Oh, that sounds lovely. I bet you know how heavy the NEOC set are...

I’m fairly sure it’s these that almost all the uK clubs use: https://www.sportident.co.uk/equipment/catalogue/i...

They are lovely and light to go put out!!

We have some of those.

Watch for slivers. One we ended up taping to save our then employee.

Bottom may not penetrate dry hard ground like a metal spike (so always okay in woods, less so on well-trodden sprint-y grass areas perhaps say near a popular beach)

These are perhaps not deal breakers for many use cases.

I've seen the ones SI sells before. They are pretty expensive, so we are hoping for a cheaper solution...

Are they the same as, or similar to, the fiberglass stakes used as..driveway markers? I have quite a collection from picking up along the roadsides...broken, but I saw off that part and then file a point on one end...fiberglass splinters can be a problem after abusive use.
Of course the problem with the stakes I have, how do you attach controls and e boxes.

This is the one of the cheaper ways to end up with a flag somewhere, which works for local events where you don't care if the SI box is any more accessible than tied to a tree.

I haven't tried to mount a plate for SI on it yet. Seems feasible? but haven't been tinkering enough lately.

It is hard to beat that Tractor Supply product for price, unless you buy it at Lowe's. You can screw a BSF plate into the top.
But O-Store in Ottawa can certainly beat those fiberglass posts for price and with an aluminum product. Lightweight and easy to carry in a hand or in an old golf bag.
