Sunday Apr 14 #

7 AM

Running 1:15:40 intensity: (45:40 @2) + (30:00 @4) 17.2 km (4:24 / km) +346m 4:00 / km
ahr:191 max:212 shoes: Adidas Adizero Boston 10

Some tempo efforts on the roads around Robin Hoods Bay. Not feeling very spritely, but a lovely morning and a new trig always helps.
2 uphill headwind efforts were a grind but felt like I was relatively strong and then the one slightly downhill tailwind one my legs just wouldn't move.

9 AM

Running 1:24:00 [2] 13.67 km (6:09 / km) +359m 5:26 / km
ahr:144 max:188 shoes: Hoka Torrent 2 - 1st Pair

Run from Cloughton North along the coast to Robin Hood's Bay with Laura.
Lovely day out. Lots of stops to look at things including an unexpected seal spotting early on.
It was trail and the ankle was okay it just hurts with excessive movement because the shoe bumps against it and it's still swollen and a bit sore. I was walking any slightly technical downhill so not stressing it very much.
Got quite tired by the end just from time on feet.
Followed with some walking round Robin Hood's Bay with the map from some obscene memory training I think Schorah planned for us a while ago. Such a cool area, a shame it is only about 2 minutes worth of good orienteering.

Followed by more walking round Whitby which wasn't so enjoyable. Too many people for my liking.

ahr:152 max:185 shoes: Floatride energy symmetros 2.5

Two longer hilly efforts up Stannington from Malin Bridge and Heroes. Feeling a bit rough in general but nice to push a bit.
Ankle okay but pretty much all road and careful on the downs

ahr:151 max:169 shoes: Saucony Guide 2

Pre-Running Junior selection race at York.
Steady effort being super cautious on steps/grass. Turns out this was Laura pace as we started together and first 7 the same but chose all the different routes and kept coming together.
Great course with lots of good longer legs of which I got some wrong I think.
Ankle okay but bit sore in the evening.

Running 18:12 intensity: (15 @0) + (38 @1) + (17:19 @2) 3.72 km (4:53 / km)
ahr:134 max:145 shoes: Saucony Guide 2

Cross Training 38:17 intensity: (1:53 @0) + (28:14 @1) + (8:10 @2)
ahr:113 max:141

Spin with a few efforts, low motivation not ideal but not too fussed in recovery mode.

Running 15:04 intensity: (14 @0) + (30 @1) + (9:01 @2) + (4:31 @3) + (22 @4) + (26 @5) 2.99 km (5:03 / km) +70m 4:31 / km
ahr:141 max:190 shoes: Reebok Floatride

HFW.
Plan was to cross train but got some crippling stomach cramps at work so just getting home ASAP.
Ankle bit sore but generally good.

Tuesday Apr 9 #

Note
(injured) (sick)

Everything progressing.
Ankle much better so hopefully nothing too serious.

Monday Apr 8 #

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Feel like a very broken man.
Limited sleep between flight landing late last night and first train. A nice 2 hour lunch nap hopefully helped.
Ankle sore but not acutely painful, blisters not great and probably not as over the illness as hoped but could also be travel and lack of sleep.

The plan allowed me to be slightly broken in the Nice -> JK -> Hungary group. With minimal training in between and hoping to be back this Friday for some sprint. Might be a bit longer but I'm definitely fit enough to not have to worry about panic training unlike the last few years.

Some reflection on the last two weekends and I'm really happy with what I've done. The JK sprint being the most disappointing but maybe I'm just a middle specialist now.
