Spartacus Middle.

Amazingly feel less ill after yesterday although very tired.
Shaky start losing 75s across 2 and 3 but then got it together. Zoltan caught me at 9, I took the high route to 12 then lead through to 14. Physically struggling out of 15 and got dropped, then big ankle twist out of 16. Hobbling up to 17 and down but luckily last loop was flat and managed to run okay with an annoying big banana to 19.

Ankle bad, illness box unticked, injury box ticked. Some horrible blisters too.

Spartacus Long

A technically solid race with a massive physical blow up. Just walking a lot in the last 40 minutes. Pretty sure the illness had an effect as would expect to be more capable than that.
3 gels, lots of water at the drinks control.

One was an easy introduction didn't think there was much in the routes so kept the straighter simple one.
Aimed to go high to 2 but was way too high and a bad bearing over the top meant I was off line and confusion induced hesitations meant I lost around a minute. Wrong route choice to 4 lost another 30s.
4-13 all felt very easy and very similar just climbing up to the top and dropping in repeatedly.
I thought the route to 14 was pretty obvious with the bit of geeking I'd done. Unfortunately I was now starting to struggle on any minor uphill.
It was nervy dropping down and stopped early to correct some minor issues which saved time losses down the slope others had.
Counting indexes to 15 I saw low wasn't much more climb and it looked shorter and a much more gradual climb. Contour wasn't great but good enough. First 3 splits on livelox all different routes which is cool. I just shed time physically. Had second gel here (caffeine one) and a load of water at the control.
Poor route to 16 as round was quicker than over. 17-19 good gel coming out of 19.
An unnecessary banana to start the long leg but otherwise happy with the route. I lost around ~4 minutes on a 16min leg to Peters and Chris. Just completely empty. Spiked the last loop and it took me 5:40 and Molloy 4:11 which is enough evidence of the bonk.

Middle course.
A slight sniffle developed into a head cold last night. Feeling good below the head so went for an easy training. Couldn't find anything and never got to grasp with vegetation.
GPS hindsight showed I was poor but not horrific.
Will have to see how I feel tomorrow with regards to the weekends races.

JK Relay Stanton Moor. 7th

Good Runs by OJ and Joe sent me out in 12th but not far off some good teams. Excitingly only 8s down on SN with Peter on last leg.
Nailed the downhill run out catching Peter, we had different number 1s but nailed mine and the following few in the open.
Sunley lead us through the couple in the woods. Split from Peter on the long leg to 8 as I cut across to the big path on the left. Shocking route choice because I missed the opportunity to go to a trig but time wise was okay.
Caught sight of Alex and Nathan ahead here.

9-10 I didn't really read and was like I'm in-between paths now and so is my control so I contoured but it wasn't a constant slope and I could of contoured out to the top path, taking a shorter route on a path instead of messing about on the slope.

Still had Alex in sight and Peter behind to Spectator, went a bit too straight to 14 and left the big attack too late as Alex held me off at the end.

Great fun.
