XC Skiing (Skating) 1:30:00 [3]

Skating at Hardwood. New snow and old wax made for slower condtions. First time skating this year (on old combi skis) and it sure uses some different leg muscles. Started to feel a lot better after the first hour. As usual, it takes me an hour to warm up then I felt good and pumped. With my lousy technique the steep uphills are a PITA, but the flats and gentle ups and downs seemed to go very fast compared to classic.

Running (CNOFRFJ) 30:00 [4]

Ran the inagural Chuck Norris Orillia fun event for Jerks race at LM's place, organized by Adidasman.
My teammate The Bakes and I just missed the podium by one place, and were also last, despite a fast run. Naturally Bash won!

Running warm up/down (Trail run) 40:00 [2]
shoes: Montrail Susitna

Ran to Palgrave to meet up with K/O and the gang for an early run.

Running tempo 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: Montrail Susitna

Palgrave with the gang. K/O was running a bit late (No pun intended) so we kept up a good clip. I was trying not to run in ski tracks, so I got to work harder than most. After yesterday's intervals I was expecting a long slow run.

Strength (Home gym) 1:00:00 [2]

Workout #3

Strength (Home gym) 1:00:00 [2]

Workout #2. Part of it was in the dark during a power failure, as I was watching something on my laptop. (No DVD player in the basement).

I was going to ride the trainer too, really I was, but gave up when power stayed off for over 6 hours. OK, I could have charged up my laptop from the car inverter and then watched my TDF DVDs I got for X-mas.

Thank goodness for headlamps to see, propane stoves to cook dinner and our fireplace insert to keep warm.

Snowshoeing intervals (Commute +) 43:00 [4]
ahr:164 max:190

Run to work on snowshoes. Hard work! Heavy, wet snow made it a zone 4 just jogging on the flats, but I did some hill intervals too. Probably should have called it a 5, but the time includes some warmup and cooldown.

Snowshoeing 36:00 [3]

Jog home on snowshoes. It was colder, so I was crunching through light crust. There's no way to run uphill in these conditions without pushing level 4, so I walked some hills.
Lots of tree-clearing work ahead of us!

Strength (Core + Balance) 15:00 [2]

A bit of ball and board work while watching some of the extended version of Primal Quest.

XC Skiing 2:50:00 [1]

Winter wonderland out there! Heavy snow was weighing down branches everywhere, so a lot of stops to shake them off and open up the trail. Slow going on waxless skis.
