XC Skiing 1:05:00 [2]

Kneasy ski with Bash around Palgrave W. Getting sticky, so we used the waxless slowpoke skis.

XC Skiing (Commute) 35:00 [3]

Wow, what a spectacular morning. Glistening snow on everything and sundogs around the rising sun. I waxed sticker today to avoid the dreaded Herringbone. I have the best commute in the world!

XC Skiing (Commute +) 1:15:00 [3]

Nice tour of Palgrave East- broke much of the Red trail in perfect conditions. Also took the 2 dogs out for an extra spin- much bain-du-neige and other romping.

XC Skiing (Commute) 1:00:00 [3]

Yesssss! A dump of heavy snow last night. Finally, my favourite sport.
Bulletdog and I skied to work. Slippery going breaking trail, and the cedars are bent over the trail heavy with snow. Love it!

I need to allow more time to put in contacts, wax skis, put on my knee brace, set up the headlamp and Bulletdog's flashing collar, etc, etc. More snow predicted during the day. Bring it On-n-n-n-n-!

Nice ski home by headlamp and bright moon.

Strength (Core) 30:00 [2]

Caron's Hard Core class. Compared to last time I was thinking "Is that all you've got?" Last week really hurt.

Yoga 40:00 [1]

Yoga class. I had to sit out Pidgeon Pose on my right side and some other nasty knee bends, but mostly could do it OK.

Strength (Link) 1:00:00 [2]

K/O's link workout. Also threw in a few sets of 25 chest-to-balance-board push ups. The leg felt the best it's been for months, and I did the whole workout.

Cycling (Trainer) 50:00 [3]

Forecast is vile, so I had a good ride on the trainer today. The knee felt good, so I pushed it up the Alps with the lads on the 00 Tour. Pantani had a couple of good days- he got away and only Lance kept up with him on Mt. Ventoux.

Note

Here's how to Pimp your Apex. Be aware it voids your warranty.

You have to check out Posting #52
Here's the text:

1. Buy a Seoul SSC P4 Emitter, (USWOH, not on a star mount) and thermal grease from Photonfanatic here on the forums:
http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/forumdisplay.php?...

or e-mail him at FredPilon(at)photonfanatic.com. Tell him it's for an Apex and order the same emitter that Richard E did. He's a former world champ Rogainer.

2. Open apex- remove 2 screws from back, remove hinge bolt and screw behind it.
3. Remove optic (lens + reflector assembly)
4. Remove luxeon emitter carefully. Pry out with fine flat screwdriver.
5. Clean the heatsink from the old thermal grease and add a little dot of new thermal grease, I used Artic Silver 5. Fred Pilon advises that Thermal Epoxy is a better electrical insulator, but once set the emitter is harder to replace in future.
6. Solder red wire to the positive terminal on the P4
7. Solder black wire to the negative terminal (the one with a notch in the other copper lead, look on the datasheet for the P4 and see)
8. Place LED where luxeon used to be, be sure that it has good contact with heatsink. Make sure wires don't touch heat sink.
9. Replace Optic. Turn on light to make sure the beam is centred properly- If not, re-position optic. It clicks in on 2 little pegs.
10 Reassemble apex. Don't forget to place the heat sink cover on before screwing the back on.

It is apparently easier to modify an EOS too. Very detailed instructions with photos:

You need a Star mount for this one.

See what happens when you're injured and have too much spare time?

Running (Commute) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Ecco GTX + Screws

Jog in with T-dog.

Hiking (Commute) 40:00 [1]
shoes: Ecco GTX + Screws

Jog-hike home with 2 dogs by headlamp. Taking it easy on Bulletdog's leg, and T-dog needs to stop and sniff everything.

I saw a bike going by on Reddington with a bright headlamp. He stopped and came back, yelling "Greg?". He saw my light and thought I was his buddy going for a ride in Palgrave singletrack with his HID. It's not *that* bright!

Cycling (Commute) 50:00 [3]

No dogs today, so I biked in. Home in the dark with the modified Apex.

Strength (Home gym) 1:00:00 [2]

Workout #3, punctuated by re-cabling the Omega bike between sets.

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Around Palgrave with the Bulletdog. Inspired after watching hours of Andycam's TDA pics. Man, I'm slow on the bike right now.

Bulletdog seems to have a sore left leg in sympathy. Too many Squirrel intervals with no warmup I think.
