Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Practice) 15:00 [1]

Stretching and warmup for basketball practice. I felt alright in warmups although I still felt weak from my sickness.

Cross-Training (Basketball Practice) 1:30:00 [3]

We had a fairly easy practice since we have a game tomorrow. It was good that it was easy since I felt awful as soon as we started doing any hard physical activity. Overall I still feel really weak from being sick for so long and the practice made me feel awful.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Game) 30:00 [1]
slept:4.0

Stretching and warmup for a basketball game.

Cross-Training (Basketball Game) 1:00:00 [4]

I played very hard and got a great workout. It was a close game so I played the whole game. My legs felt pretty tired even though I have had plenty of rest. I guess my insomnia is finally catching up to me. Maybe it has nothing to do with it, since I usually feel physically fine regardless of my sleep habits, but it is the only reason I can think of to explain my fatigue.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Game) 20:00 [1]

Stretching and warmup for a basketball game. We got there early again so we had lots of time to warmup.

Cross-Training (Basketball Game) 3:00:00 [5]

The other team wasn't very good, so I didn't play much after the first half since we were killing them. The court was very big, so I felt pretty winding sprinting up and down it constantly. We were doing a lot of fast breaks, so I was doing a lot of sprinting. I felt really out of shape anaerobically, and my lungs were burning. It was definitely a great workout.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Game) 30:00 [1]
slept:6.0

We got to the game earlier than we were supposed to, so we had lots of time to warmup.

Cross-Training (Basketball Game) 1:00:00 [3]

The other team was pretty bad so I didn't play a whole lot. I hustled when I was on the court and still managed to get a pretty good workout, but nothing like a real intense game.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Practice) 15:00 [1]
slept:7.0

Stretching and warmup for basketball practice.

Cross-Training (Basketball Practice) 1:30:00 [4]

A good intense practice. We did lots of running and strength workouts.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Game) 15:00 [1]
slept:2.5

Stretching and warmup for our basketball game.

Cross-Training (Basketball Game) 1:00:00 [4]

A tough basketball game. We played away in a weird gym that is more like a subway line than a gym. We had an awful offensive game missing easy layups and shots, and barely hit any free throws. It was absolutely pathetic. Our defense was good though, but it wasn't enough to win the game.

I felt great despite my lack of sleep. I was able to shut down their top scorer, getting a great workout at the same time. My leg felt fine.

Stretching/Warmup 15:00 [2]

Stretching and warmup at 8:30 AM for cross country practice. We are meeting every Sunday morning now to run the course. Our plan is to run it at an easy pace now and gradually increase the speed as the weather warms up. Hopefully by running it every week we will learn to pace ourselves better.

I felt pretty good despite being sick for the past few days. My thigh was still sore but didn't bother me when I was running. It is only when I have to get down low in my knees that it bothers me.

Trail Run (5k Course) 24:31 [3]

We ran an 8 minute mile pace checking off the quarter miles. It was the perfect pace considering the icy cover, and the early time. The cold air was refreshing, but I don't think it would have been too much fun at race pace.

Cross-Training (Basketball Game) 1:00:00 [4]
slept:6.0 (sick)

Annual Student vs. Alumni basketball game. It was probably the most talented group of basketball players we will face all year, and definitely the toughest. We took quite a beating. We were able to hold onto them for most of the game, but ended up losing by ten points. It is tough playing against all the stars of past years.

I bruised my thigh again on someone's knee, and my right pinky got jammed. Other than that, I managed to keep from getting injured.

I played very hard physically, but I wasn't feeling too well. I thought I was going to throw up at halftime since I couldn't catch my breath for a few minutes. I probably shouldn't have been playing.

My thigh will probably be sore for a few days.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Practice) 15:00 [1]

Stretching and warmup for basketball practice.

Cross-Training (Basketball Practice) 1:30:00 [4]

We worked on a lot of plays at a high intensity. I felt surprisingly good despite only 2 hours of sleep.

Cross-Training (Basketball Practice) 1:45:00 [4]
slept:6.0

A tough practice today after three days off. We did lots of wprints and running, and everything was at a high intensity. I felt pretty good despite being sick for the past two days. I think I am over it and well rested.

Note

Was going to go running at South Mountain with Dmitriy, but I woke up with an awful headache. I decided to take the day off.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Practice) 20:00 [2]

Stretching and warmup for basketball practice. Mostly shooting. Practicing my jump shot actually seems to be a good workout. Pulling up and hanging before shooting takes a good deal out of you if you do it for ten minutes. Some warmup running as stretching as well.

Cross-Training (Basketball Practice) 1:40:00 [4]

Another tough practice. We did a lot of running in between drills which put us all at a high intensity. The scrimmage at the end was real intense.

Stretching/Warmup (Basketball Practice) 30:00 [2]

Stretching and warmup before practice.

Cross-Training (Basketball Practice) 1:20:00 [4]

A tough practice today. I sprained my middle finger and the initial pain made me think that I had broken it. I was high on endorphins for the rest of the practice and I felt great. The pain subsided pretty quickly so I knew that my finger was just sprained.

Interval Training (Sprints) 10:00 [5]

Finished off practice with some sets of suicides. I was still running on endorphins and felt great. The sprints took every last bit of energy out of me.

Orienteering (Score-O) 55:00 [3]
slept:8.0

HVO's annual New Year's Day score-o. Each year it has a twist and this year's was a trivia score-o. At each control there was a statement taken from Snapple caps. We had to decide whether the statement was true or false (the course setter altered some of the Snapple facts to make them false), before punching either a true or false box for the control. There were 30 controls and a 60 minute time limit.

The weather was cold and rainy, but once I got started it felt great. I felt pretty fresh, but since I spent some time at each control I didn't really get a full intense Orienteering workout. The style of the event didn't allow for me to really work on my technique and it was more like a fun course than a good serious training.
